Daily obedience to God in different areas of your life will bring you to your calling III

Greetings to you, dear readers of „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! By the great mercy of God we are given an opportunity to feed our hearts on the living Word of God. God is light, and there is no darkness in Him! The light of God’s Word enlightens us and makes us wise.Today we will continue talking about what we do with our talents. Let’s turn to Jesus’ parable about talents. It talks about the master and his three servants who received talents and assignments from their master. The master called his servants.
«For the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling to a far country, who called his own servants…» (Mathew, 25:14).
God has a specific calling for every one of us. But He only calls those people who acknowledge His lordship.
«For the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his good to them»(Mathew, 25:14).
I want you to notice that the Lord called His servants. What people have received their calling? Servants. What does it mean to be a servant? A servant is one who belongs to his master. In old times a servant totally identified himself with his master; sometimes he even had his master’s surname.A very important meaning is found in this idea. If we say that we belong to the Lord, then we will be able to hear His calling. But if we still belong to ourselves, then we are not His servants. You must become the servant of God and not of a man. When we prayed the prayer of salvation, we announced that Jesus has become our Lord and Master. We said, «I receive Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour of my life». What does that mean? It means that Jesus has become my Supervisor. It means that now I belong to Him and that I have lost the right to control you own life and have passed this right to Jesus; so I proclaim Him to be the Lord. Now it is not me who rules my life; it is Him. Jesus does not call someone else’s servants; He only calls His own. He only calls those who belong to Him. He calls those who fully identify themselves with Him and realizes that they no longer belong to themselves, but only to the Lord Jesus Christ. If you desire to find out what your calling is and to start walking in it, then, first of all, be obedient to God on a daily basis; secondly, let Jesus to become the Lord in all the areas of your life.It is our honour and privilege to have Jesus Christ as our Lord, since He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. The lordship of Jesus does not humiliate and limit a person; quite the opposite is true, – it exalts and adorns human life.
«Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, whose heart is set on pilgrimage» (Psalm 84:5).
May God bless you today in a special way!Till tomorrow!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • We have to strengthen our spirit

The Bible states «A man’s spirit will sustain him in sickness, but a crushed spirit, who can bear?» (Proverbs 18:14). Satan wants to hit our spirit via hardships, trials and problems. When your spirit is strengthened, you can overcome any kind of weakness, get through all kind of hardships and trials. So how can we strengthen our spirit? God´s word and His promises strengthen our spirit and overcome weakness and sufferings. In order to not give up, we need to learn how to lean on the word of God and His promises – fully and unconditionally. We have to learn God´s faithfulness and realise that God will never forsake us unless we abandon Him ourselves.
  • What does it mean to fear God?

It means obeying His commandments, knowing who is the real Boss on the top of everything. Fearing God means the acknowledgement of His strength, His magnificence, His power, His holiness and therefore, respect and honour Him.Fear of God is a kind of salubrious fear, not a kind of phobia people needing a psychiatric treatment have. Fearing God we understand that He is going to judge us for our sins and it impacts our deeds.
  • I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me!

According to the word of God we are already granted everything we need in order to succeed in this life. God has already given us all that we need to have life abundantly. There is no such need in our life God has not taken care for yet. We only have to get to know God and His precious promises, so that we can prevail the lust of this world and fulfil our call from God.«Seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue; by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.». (2 Peter 1:3-4).
  • The lordship of Jesus Christ

The phrase „Jesus is Lord!” is quite often used by the children of God. But being the children of God, we cannot treat this concept in a superficial or religious manner. The lordship of Jesus has a deep spiritual meaning. We should not casually proclaim or declare His lordship without the correct understanding of what it really implies. God wants us today to discover for ourselves what the true essence of the lordship of Jesus is and to act accordingly.
  • The person who daily fills his heart with God’s Word has several advantages

    1. God makes the feet of this person strong as the feet of deer. This person is able to run and not get weary. When he or she faces an obstacle or a wall, he has the strength to get over it. This thought is profound: the person who is filled with God’s light has power to overcome the difficulties of life. There are no invincible barriers for him. When the light of God comes into the person’s life, God’s wisdom comes with it and helps overcome all obstacles.
  • As children of God we need and we depend on the Holy Spirit for effective life and ministry

    1) Jesus Himself, while living on the earth, relied on Holy Spirit in everything, and we are called to follow in His step.2) The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a God’s commandment for us, and not just an advice.
