Compassionate service to others will fill our life with satisfaction and make us happy in the Lord

Welcome, dear readers to the column of our daily word for spiritual strength on this wonderful day! Every day comes with new things from the Lord. His mercy and steadfast love are new for us every morning! Glory be to His wonderful name! We are talking about ministry and have discussed how important is it to develop a compassionate heart. When we serve God and people, it becomes a means whereby God can deal with our selfishness and develop compassion in us at the same time. As we develop compassionate hearts, God’s power is released in and through us for the benefits of multitudes. Do you want to be transformed? Can you imagine changes and transformation taking place in your life without ministry? I can’t. God will transform us through ministry! Jesus’ anointing was without measure, because His ministers and serve people without measure. Begin now to minister and serve others and watch how you will start to grow in your spirit and become transformed into the likeness of Christ. Begin to serve people, for that is when the character of Christ and the power of God will grow up in you like never before. In addition to the fact that God helps us to develop compassion towards other people through ministry, ministry delivers satisfaction and fulfilment to us. Compassionate service to others will fill our life with satisfaction and make us happy in the Lord. It is in ministering to others instead of focusing on ourselves that we discover a fulfilled, happy and satisfied life. Life and joy fill our hearts when we see how God meets other people needs through our ministry. When we share our talents with other people through ministry, God also fills us with life. Let’s read a verse from Gospel of John:
«but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life» (John 4:14).
What is Jesus trying to say in this verse? He is saying here that we already have a source of life inside of us through our faith in Christ Jesus. That’s why Jesus said: but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life ». If you already accepted Jesus Christ into your heart as Lord and saviour, you may rest assure that a source of life – a source of living water is already opened up in you. What is the purpose of that source of living water? First of all, the source was created in order to meet your own personal needs. Although, God desires that you use this source for something more, and not just for to meet your own needs. God wants you to share your source with others by serving them. That is the reason why Jesus went ahead and said:
«He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water». (John 7:38).
Here Jesus is now saying that His desire for us believers is that we will not just carry the source of living water within, but that we will also let the river of living water flow through us to other people. The source of living water that we carry inside of us is a gift from God, received for the purpose of ministry to others. That is what the following Scriptures adjourn us to minister to others what we have received as gifts from the Lord:
“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1st Peter 4:10).
God wants me to serve other people using everything I possess. My talents are supposed to be a source not just for me but also for somebody else. If you will use the source you received from God only for personal purposes instead of using it to meet other people’s need through ministry, then you’ll never be satisfied in God and never fully enjoy this source.
«He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water». (John 7:38).
Jesus said before that the source “will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life” (John 4:14), now He is saying this source will flow out to others from us as “the river of living water”. First of all the rivers should flow into us then out of our belly. The source should first be born inside of us through our faith Christ, and later it should flow out of us as rivers of living water that can meet the needs of other people, and make them thirsty no more. As we live our life this way, we are able to enjoy the life of God, and become cheerful, happy and fulfilled all the time. Ministry makes us joyful and keeps us fresh. Ministry makes you happy and satisfied with life. It makes the rivers of living water flow out of our belly to others. Whenever God’s life flows into us, then out from us to other people, we will blossom and bear great fruits for God. As a result of that we will be transformed into lively, happy, cheerful and fulfilled people. God bless you abundantly!  Rufus Ajiboye, pastor

  • We multiply our talents by using them and putting them to practise

We have to apply our gifts. We must find for ourselves a place in church, in God’s Kingdom. Your barrenness is nobody’s fault, but yours. Learn to apply your talents and do it well. Whatever you do, do it well to be called a good and faithful servant. The word „faithful” contains deep meaning. You can depend on a faithful servant; he is reliable; he never lets down.
  • The philosophy of change

It is quite often that we oppose changes; we resist any changes because we are creatures of habit. If something is new and unusual for us, we don’t like it. Is that the truth? Whatever is unusual to us scares us. We love the comforts of life and if something upsets our comfortable position, we start to fight it with all of our strength.Nevertheless God calls every person to go through changes.
  • The implanted Word of God changes an individual: his reactions, emotions, behaviour

“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls” (James, 1:21).For the Word of God to be implanted in you, you must ‘lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness’. If you are mad at everybody then you won’t be able to hear and comprehend the Word; you will read it, but it won’t work in your life. The process of engrafting requires a special treatment, protection in order to preserve the tree from infection. The same can be said about a human heart, – it must be protected from wickedness so that the Word of God could be planted and then bring forth fruit – the fruit of salvation.
  • Cooperation with God

When we continually pray and worship God, then our main desire is doing the will of God. Many prayers remain unanswered by God, because these prayers have a wrong foundation and demonstrate wrong priorities. For example, you may pray for a person with some serious problems. And you ask God to remove his or her problems or to solve them. At the same time you know that even if the answer to this prayer comes, the problems might return, since the cause of them has not been removed. That is why when Paul prayed he always asked for the people to learn the will of God and have a desire to do His will and be fruitful.
  • Worship the Lord

God wants us to talk to Him the way we talk to our father. Jesus said in His prayer: “… blessed be Thy Name!” The word “bless” means He worshipped the God Father in reverence to Him. Worship prepares our soul to meet the God. It also involves our spirit. Just like in order to listen to a broadcast on the radio you need to tune it up first, worship helps us to turn our spirit on and tune it up on the God´s wave. Jesus taught:«You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve»
