God looks at what we do with what we already know

Welcome, dear friends! Grace and peace to you from Father God and our Lord Jesus Christ!

I am glad to see that you have found time to visit „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification” and feed on the wisdom that is hidden in God’s Word. God’s Word brings light into our lives. In one of his Psalms David said:

«For You will light my lamp; the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness» (Psalm, 18:28).

Allow God today to speak to your heart.

We are talking about the importance of knowing and doing God’s will. Yesterday we talked about the fact that God reveals His plans and intentions to us gradually as we reach particular levels of maturity and grow in our ability to accept what He has prepared for us. We also established that God reveals His will to those who are close to Him, seek His will and are willing to do His will. God looks at what we do with what we already know, and only then He will reveal the next part of His plan for our lives.

Here is what Jesus said about the importance of doing God’s revealed will:

«And that servant who knew this master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more» (Luke, 12: 47-48).

We see two categories of people here: those who know their master’s will and do not do it and those who do not know their master’s will. Both categories of people will be punished in accordance with how they treated the opportunities that presented themselves. Many people have multiple opportunities to learn God’s will for their lives, but they never use these opportunities. These people are either too lazy or too careless and light-minded. Remember, it says in the Bible that to whom much has been given, of him much will be required and who has a lot, more will be given to him.

What happened to those who knew their master’s will, but «did not prepare himself or do according to his will»? Jesus said that they will “be beaten with many stripes”. So, the knowledge of God’s will and doing of it is important to every person, because our happiness on earthand our eternal destiny depend on it. When we are searching for God’s will we mustn’t forget that God reveals His will to us through His Word, the Bible.

«Therefore whoever hears these saying of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall» (Mathew, 7: 21-27).

The common sense is to know and do the Word of God. The stability and protection of our lives depend on it. Rain, rivers, storm will test every house, every life and every work. The one who builds his life on the rock of God’s Word will live forever which is God’s will for everyone.

We will continue tomorrow! May God bless you abundantly!

  • The power of compassion

Today I would like to talk about the power of compassion. If we look at the life of Jesus as the image of God – and that is Who Jesus is, – we will see that Jesus was motivated by compassion. When we are moved by compassion, we can’t be idle and barren. Our world is full of problems and God is calling us to work to solve them. We are His representatives on the earth. We are the Body of Christ on earth, so anything that God wants to do here He does through us.Looking at the life of Jesus we see that He never was idle. Every time when He wanted to be alone and relax after long hours of ministry, people would find Him and ask for help. And He never rejected anybody. Many times we read in the Bible: «He had compassion and ministered to them». He went from town to town, because He was anointed to bring solutions where problems were.

  • Love is a weapon of victory of the last time III

The principle of love protects our hearts, emotions and our life from injuries and bruises. Hatred, evil, betrayal, cruelty and lack of understanding among people will multiply at the last days. Jesus never sinned, while people back-bit Him anyway. But, how Jesus reacted to that back-biting? He never replied with back-biting, never tried to overcome evil with evil. He knew it would not work this way, quite opposite it would have increased the amount of evil, pain, emotional injuries and hatred in the life of a person who tries to overcome evil with evil.

  • Suffering as a method of discipline

One of the reasons God allows suffering in the lives of His children is that He desires to draw our attention to Himself, to correct and discipline us. We know that God mostly corrects us by His Word: «All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work» (2 Timothy, 3:16-17).

  • Practical suggestions that can make your Bible studies more effective II

If you treat the Bible as any other book and do not apply it to your life, then it will be boring and you won’t understand why you ever need to read it. In one of His parables, Jesus said that some people hear the word and do it, and that is why they become wiser. When problems or life storms come into their lives, they go through them with dignity. It is because what they read does not remain theoretical; for them it is applicable and practical.

  • Our highest calling – to reveal God in our flesh

The Bible says: «For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him» (John, 1:17-18).The law can never save people because the law only reveals the sinful nature of man. The law was given in order for people to realize their need for God and His help. It was Jesus who brought to us the truth and the grace that conveys spiritual power necessary to live in accordance with God’s will. Anyone who will accept this truth and grace will have the power to live a holy life and become an instrument in God’s hand that is able to manifest or declare God’s truth and grace to other people.
