God’s Word being the best means of cleansing for a human heart

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ! Welcome to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! We have been talking for some time about God’s Word being the best means of cleansing for a human heart. God cleanses me through His Word, so I have to be absorbed in it daily. It might seem to you that you are not getting anything out of it, but it is not so. When we read the Word, we receive deep cleansing, just like people get clean when they bathe. It must be done as often as possible so we would stink spiritually. If you start to notice that you are getting quick-tempered, it means you need to wash it off. If you notice your heart closing up, it means you are not reading the Word and missing the cleansing. If you notice things that do not comply with Christian standards, for example, picking a quarrel, it is a sign of not being in the Word enough. When we read the Word, it shows us the right path, corrects us and brings us to repentance. Negative confessions are a sign of not being in the Word. When you abide in the Word, you are filled with faith and speak the words of faith. You used to say: «I can do everything! I have problems, but I will overcome them! Everything is great!» Now you are saying: «Well, I don’t know. We will see. It is what it is». Words like this show that you have been defiled, and it is not pleasant aroma before the Lord. It is not the spirit of faith. So we need to be saturated by the Word. God’s Word is profitable. When I understand that God’s Word is the means of cleansing, then I get inner stimuli to read it. I need to read it, if I want to walk in purity, not utter negative confessions and be ‘in shape’ spiritually. All of this has to awaken in us the desire to read the Word and be creative in it. Many people do not read the Bible because of different misconceptions. For so many it has become like spiritual illness or spiritual attack that they are not aware of. It says in the Bible that God’s Word is Spirit-inspired and profitable. And if it is profitable, then we must not only read it, but also benefit from it every time we read it. We will surely learn it and then help others in it.
«All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness»(2 Timothy, 3:16).
Let’s pray: «Dear Father! I thank you for this word! Thank you, Lord, for teaching us to appreciate the things that You appreciate. Lord, You have give us Your Word and it is Your message for us, which brings us light and freedom, drives away all darkness and points us in the right direction. God, You desire for us to read, study Your Word and mediate on it, to divide the Word rightly and walk blamelessly before You. We ask You in Jesus’ Name to stir in us the desire to abide in Your Word. We need the inner stimuli. Lord, I pray for the Holy Spirit to use what we have read today and motivate the readers to get into the Word, to get strong and established in the truth, in Jesus’ Name. Hallelujah! If there are any spiritual reasons that get in the way of daily reading and meditating, then – in Jesus’ Name – I command the devil to stop his attacks in the lives of God’s children. We thank You, Jesus! In Jesus’ Name, amen!»   May God abundantly bless every one of you! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Searching for the meaning of life III

We have been talking about search for the meaning of life. We are using the life of Solomon, the son of David as our example. Solomon was the wisest person on earth. We saw that in the beginning of his life Solomon obtained wisdom and riches, because he loved God and knew Him. But there came a time in his life, when he forsook God and followed other gods. At that time Solomon tried to satisfy his soul with different things; he looked for happiness in different places. Eventually, Solomon realized that it is impossible to be happy and satisfied in this life without God.
  • Preparation of the way of the Lord II

Yesterday we started talking about God’s desire to demonstrate His glory and fullness in our lives; for this to happen we have to prepare our hearts and to prepare the way of the Lord. We have to cleanse our hearts from the things that God hates and cannot look upon. The following verses from the Scripture reveal the principle of preparation the way of the Lord.«In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; make His paths straight.’”» (Mathew, 3:1-3).
  • Prayer is petitioning God and receiving from Him II

Prayer is one of the ways to find out the will of God. Why did Jesus say that He did nothing but what He saw His Father do? Why did Jesus pray? Why did He do what He did? Because He sought the will of God in prayer and received the revelation of God’s will.Let’s look at Moses. God gave Moses the law; God told him to deal with the nation according to it. But while the nation of Israel was in desert Moses faced different situation that were not described in the law.
  • You have been created, redeemed and restored! You were born twice!

We are not only created by God, we are also reworked or recreated by Jesus Christ. We are talking about the opportunity available to sinful people because Christ has come into this world. This is exactly what the letter to Ephesians says:«You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience; among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.» (Ephesians 2:1-10).
