How to develop a habit of prayer in our life? II

The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ and His peace be with you!Welcome to join our daily letter “Daily Word for spiritual strength”!Prayer is relationships of love between a man and The God as we determined it earlier. It´s nothing else but the love of God, that prompts people to pray and spend time with Him.A desire to know Him and His will in our life is a kind of food to keep our life in prayer alive. The only way to know His will is to come to see Him and ask Him about it. This desire keeps our life in prayer alive. We have to have such desire to be able to pray continuously. Paul once said he would like to know the Lord and the power of His resurrection. Looking at the Paul´s life we notice that he lived in prayer. Why was he doing so? Because he had a strong desire to know the Lord and the power of His resurrection. Paul wrote:
« Pray without ceasing» (1-Thes. 5:17).
Why do we need to pray without ceasing? Because it´s necessary to grow in the Lord more and more. It´s a very important thing to understand. He wants us to come and talk to Him every day, not only at the time of crisis in our life. Surely, our Heavenly Father replies to our prayers, but He is not happy to see us going back to our daily rituals and routine life without Him once received an answer from Him. Study Judges or Psalms 105 and 106. Once the children of Israel had got into troubles they first reaction was to cry to their God for help. Would you call it a prayer? Yes, of course. They cried to God, repented, then removed everything that stayed between them and the God from their life and the God immediately came down to save Israel from their enemies. Shortly after life was looking up again so they slid back abusing the comfort of their blessed life, neglecting the God and relationships with Him. Once again, they ran into troubles, cried to God, the God saved them and was neglected thereafter again and so on. Why did it happen this way? The answer is easy – children of Israel misunderstood the meaning of a prayer. They prayed only when they had faced a problem. Some people don´t even know what to pray for when everything is looking up in their life. “I am thankful to you Lord for I am alive, thanks for the benefits I´ve received from You – my family, my job, the church”, – that´s what such people think their prayer should be alike, just like counting the benefits they got from above and that´s it. Meanwhile, prayer means something different. Prayer means relationships with God, a desire to know His character, when you come before Him and ask: “Lord, let me know Your will and open Your heart to me.” Paul almost always prayed to the Lord for one reason. He asked Him to reveal God´s mind and His will in Paul´s life. This is what his soul was crying for. He never asked for any material needs, even when he was in need. He was very certain that for those who seek God and His Kingdom all other things will be given at their time. We are living in a very busy world today. Sometimes we can´t find the time to pray even when we have a need for prayer and a desire to pray. That´s why talking about development of our life in prayer we have to make prayer our habit. Let´s continue about it tomorrow.A lot of blessings from God to you all at this day!Rufus Ajiboye, pastor

  • Not only prayer helps us enter God’s presence, it is a source for godly revelations III

We have been talking about prayer as the source of revelation and guidance in our lives. Yesterday, we saw that through prayer and fellowship with God, Jesus knew what and how He must do or speak. Jesus said,“Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” (John 5:19)After Jesus had taught in the temple, He spent nights on the Mount of Olives. There is no doubt, that He met the Father there and they had fellowship, but the next morning He brought a fresh Word for the people who came thirsty to hear this Word.
  • Searching for the meaning of life

Many people ask themselves a question of why they feel inner emptiness. So many continue to walk the wrong way in their lives, and it goes on day after day. They feel their life to be aimless and they continue their walk unmotivated. Multitudes of people do not have a clue of why they live and whether the life is worth living. All of these things happen because they do not have a clear purpose for living. The lack of such a purpose often causes violence, different types of evil, disappointments, emptiness, despair, hopelessness, apathy, anger and so on.
  • Temptations or trials are a kind of test or exam

If you arm yourself with the knowledge that problems and trials are a test to all of us, and once it´s passed we receive a certain reward from God, then a holy desire to win given by God will be awaken within you. None of you is born willing to be a loser in this life. We all desire to win, but no win where is no battle. For the problems and trials are those battles we either get defeated or celebrate the victory at. Going through hardships and pain in our life, we better understand the price, Jesus paid for our salvation. «…you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings…».
  • The steps God takes in disciplining us II

If we listen to the conviction of the Holy Spirit that is communicated through the people God sends to us to correct us and repent of our sins, then He stops all the judgments. But, if we continue in our stubbornness and resist Him, God allows more trouble in our lives in order to show us that there are spiritual problems in us that we need to resolve. If after that we still resist Him and refuse to humble ourselves before Him, then He increases penalties. God does that because He loves us and does not want any of His children to perish.
  • What other effects of unforgiveness can we see?

Unforgiveness destroys godly relationships and causes splits in the Body of Christ. There is so much chaos in the Church of Jesus Christ because of offended people. Many of them are not able to fellowship with one another and built friendship due to offenses and the fear of rejection. Many people build huge walls around them due to unforgiveness. They receive new „revelations” that separate them from the other people even more and make them passive.
  • Lust brings sin, and sin brings death II

Lust is a strong desire or passion to something forbidden or unlawful. For example, the Bible says coveting your neighbour’s wife or his property is unlawful.«“You shall not covet your neighbour’s house. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour’s.”» (Exodus 20:17).
