Love is spiritual, not physical power

Peace to you, dear readers of “Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! I thank God for being able to keep meeting with you through this word, be encouraged through it and be fed with solid biblical teaching that is able to save our souls. We are still talking about how to live and walk in victory in these last days. God has given us His weapons –faith, hope and love. We have discussed faith, and today we will once again talk about love. Yesterday I pointed out that if we won’t learn to walk in love, our faith will not work. We also talked about love that makes our faith alive and active. If we won’t learn to walk in love, our hearts won’t be able to cope with the evil of the last days. We must practice walking in love; otherwise, our lives will be filled with wrong things and they will affect our overall condition.Let’s read several Scripture verses.
«A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones» (Proverbs, 17:22).
When we do not walk in love, but think of paying back to those who have betrayed, slandered or hurt us, then we will lack the joy and peace. Besides, revenge and unforgiveness allows demonic influence to enter our lives, and then a broken spirit starts drying out our bones and brings illnesses. A broken spirit brings bone illnesses, and it is very serious. When we walk in love, we will be strong and healthy even in the midst of hatred and lawlessness of the last days.
«A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken» (Proverbs, 15:13).
A broken spirit comes out of heartaches. What is heartache? It is deep sadness that you let into your heart because of people hurting, offending, abusing you and treating you unjustly. All these things happen to use because we have not learned to look at these things like Jesus; He entrusted His problems to God Who is the Righteous Judge. If we won’t learn to walk in love and to react in love, then our hearts will be filled with sorrow. But sorrow steals our health and dries our bones.
«The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, but who can bear a broken spirit?»(Proverbs, 18:14).
All these Scripture verses apply directly to our love walk. Love is spiritual, not physical power. When we walk in love it brings health and strength to our spirits. A strong spirit helps an individual to overcome all sicknesses. But if we give our hearts to hatred, bitterness, revenge, unforgiveness, it undermines our hearts. And when our spirits are weak, we are not able to withstand difficult situation and we fail in life. That is why it says, „who can bear a broken spirit? Nobody! If you do not walk in love, you get ill, irritated and your hearts is filled with bitterness. If you do not walk in love, you destroy yourself as a person. If you do not walk in love, you open the door for demonic influence and it gradually destroys your whole life. You must not allow these things into your life. In these last days there will be very hard times, but we can live through them and live in joy, be happy despite what people do against us. All of this is possible if we train ourselves to walk in love.God bless you! We will continue tomorrow.Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

    1. Use the spiritual weapons God has given you: «Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God» (Ephesians, 6:10-17).
  • What we sow is what we reap

But it is also important to note that we reap a lot more than we sow. Without sowing we don’t reap at all. If you want to become great and bring fruit in the kingdom of God, if you desire for your life to have godly influence over other people, then you have to sow your life into others. There are no short cuts to greatness and true influence. It would be foolish to expect greatness, multiplication and fruitfulness without sowing. That would be deception!
  • Organization of effective prayer life III

Prayer is getting close to God.Let’s look at James (4:8): «Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…».Prayer means to consciously draw near to God. Prayer means to approach God on purpose.Who of you wants to draw near to God? Who of you desires for God to draw near to you? God cannot be closer to you than He is. But you can draw near to Him. God is so close to us; He says: „I am here!” You are asking: «God, where are You?” Remember when Elijah ran away and cried: «God, where are You?” But God was with him. God is everywhere! And we can draw near to Him through prayer.
  • It is the content of your heart that determines where your life is heading! IV

“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls” (James, 1:21).This is a very profound verse of Scripture that must be considered and closely examined. But I would like to draw your attention to several points. Here the Bible talks about the implanted Word which saves our souls. It resembles the process of engrafting a branch of tree into another tree, after which these trees become one, since they have the same root system. The implanted Word must be one with me. God wants His Word to be planted in my heart so that the Word and I become one because it is only then will the word be able save my soul.
  • Why is it so important to hold on to eternal life?

If you won’t be alert and pray, you won’t even notice how eternal life will slip away from you. Have you ever tried to hold a live fish in your hands? Even if you manage to take it, it can cunningly slip out of your hands. In the very same way eternal life can slip away from you without you even noticing. You won’t notice the moment when that happens. You could go on with your religious activities, attending church meetings, praying, reading the Bible, but not be on the way to eternal life. None of these things is able to guarantee to you that you will surely keep eternal life. You know, so many unbelievers do all these things: they go to church, read their Bibles, pray.
