What it means to accept personal responsibility

Dear brothers and sisters, I greet you today in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! It is no secret that God delights in your success and fulfillment in life. However, this will never happen unless you accept some responsibility for your life. Today I want us to briefly look at what it means to accept personal responsibility. If you can remember, yesterday we talked about the fact that what defiles a person is not what is done to him, but his personal reaction to that. In the following Scripture we saw that neither the man nor the woman were willing to take personal responsibility for their actions.
„The man said, “The woman you put here with me–she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.» Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” (GEN 3:12-13)
In other words, these people are saying that they are not really responsible for what they ate. Someone else is responsible for that. They said that because they did not understand what it means to take personal responsibility.Accepting personal responsibility includes:
  • Acknowledging that you are solely responsible for the choices in your life.
  • Accepting that you are responsible for what you choose to feel or think.
  • Accepting that you are the one who chooses the direction for your life.
  • Accepting that you cannot blame others for the choices you have made.
  • Removing the mask of defense or rationale for why others are responsible for who you are, what has happened to you, and what you are bound to become.
  • Pointing the finger of responsibility back to yourself and away from others when you are discussing the consequences of your actions.
  • Realizing that you determine your feelings about any events or actions addressed to you, no matter how negative they seem.
  • Recognizing that you are your best cheerleader; it is not reasonable or healthy for you to depend on others to make you feel good about yourself.
  • Not feeling sorry for the how worthless or useless you have been treated in life but taking hold of your life and giving it direction and reason.
  • Letting go of your sense of over responsibility for others.
  • Protecting and nurturing your health and emotional well being.
  • Taking an honest inventory of your strengths, abilities, talents, virtues, and positive points.
  • Developing positive, self-affirming, self-talk scripts to enhance your personal development and growth.
  • Letting go of blame and anger toward those in your past who did the best they could, given the limitations of their knowledge, background, and awareness.
  • Working out anger, hostility, pessimism, and depression over past hurts, pains, abuse, mistreatment, and misdirection.
God’s word for you today is this: are you accepting personal responsibility for your life, or are you still rolling the responsibility for your life onto others? Before you point the finger of blame at others next time, remember that your attitude and your actions are your total responsibility. No one but you is responsible for your words, your thoughts, and your actions. I wish you a blessed day! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Temptations or trials are a kind of test or exam

If you arm yourself with the knowledge that problems and trials are a test to all of us, and once it´s passed we receive a certain reward from God, then a holy desire to win given by God will be awaken within you. None of you is born willing to be a loser in this life. We all desire to win, but no win where is no battle. For the problems and trials are those battles we either get defeated or celebrate the victory at. Going through hardships and pain in our life, we better understand the price, Jesus paid for our salvation. «…you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings…».
  • If we want our talents to multiply, we must have a dream!

We all follow up our dream. It is built within us to pursue our dreams and do all we can to fulfill them. When we dream we awaken a desire within us that leads us to have the drive, passion and ambition to accomplish our dream. That is why people with dreams deploy everything within their reach to accomplish their dream. Godly ambition prompts a person to change.
  • The generosity and hospitality that opens doors for God’s intervention II

When we are hospitable, when we are willing to help people and to share with them what we have, when we do everything in our power to make our guests feel comfortable, when we minister to people from the bottoms of our hearts, then we, as God says, unwittingly show hospitality to angels that bring God’s gifts and blessings to people. By casting people off, we can also reject God’s angels.
  • The counselling III

One of the ways we make ourselves qualified is to learn to listen to people, listen to their hearts and feelings; only then we can really help them.Besides, we must be ready to show the problem from a different perspective. It is not satisfactory to point out person’s problem or his or her mistakes; we must be able to highlight how his or her present lifestyle or approach to life has caused the problem.Today I would like us to look at another passage of Scripture.
  • As believers in Christ we should learn to look at ourselves the way God looks at us!

The God´s word says we are pilgrims and aliens, therefore, do your best to see your selves as such. Doing so we will take after people seeking heavenly home, those who desire not to return to the place they have exited, rather longing for something better, namely, heaven. God is not ashamed of those who are filled with hope of salvation. He is gladly calls Himself their God, for He has prepared a city for them – a shelter to stay in safety during the storm, flood or hunger. God has prepared comfort everlasting and obvious victory for their souls.
  • The importance of unity II

I thank God for this day and believe that this day will be filled with the blessings from the Lord. Today I’d like to continue on the topic I talked about yesterday – the importance of unity. We saw that when you have a strong team every house will be built and every project will be completed. That kind of team will always achieve victory. In the Bible we see that Jesus also talked about the importance of unity.
