Prayer is petitioning God and receiving from Him

Welcome, dear friends! Grace and peace to you from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ! We are still talking about a very important topic: “Organization of effective prayer life”. Let’s discuss some more aspects of effective prayer.
  1. Prayer is petitioning God and receiving from Him.
I want to add the word ‘receiving’, because Jesus says that everyone who asks receives. When we talk about prayer then the first thing we need to do is to ask God to reveal His will to us.
«Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened» (Mathew, 7:7-8).
This passage of Scripture reveals three levels of praying. I really want you to see it. There are quite many places in the Bible where God has made known to us His desires and His will and promises. We can ask in prayer when the will of God has been revealed and made known.
«Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him» (1 John, 5:14-15).
You cannot ask anything that comes to your mind; you must ask according to His will. Many people do not know this truth and imagine that they can ask anything; they they complain that prayer does not work. No, that is not true! Prayer works! But it is essential what you ask Godi n prayer! If what you ask is not God’s will, then God won’t give it to you. And He will not give it to you, because He loves you.But if we ask according to His will, then we know that He hears us. And if He hears us, then we know that we receive what we ask for. How do we know that God hears us? Where do we find this confidence to ask Him? Confidence and boldness in prayer comes when we know from God’s Word that our petition complies with His will. It applies to material, spiritual and every other area of our lives. If God says that His will for us is that we mature in Christ, then we can pray for our spiritual growth and be confident that we will get it, because God has explicitly revealed it in His Word.Let’s look at one more component of effective prayer life.
  1. Prayer is seeking of God’s will.
Let’s look at the next part of Mathew (7:7): «…seek, and you will find». You must not only ask, but also seek. What is prayer? Prayer is the search for God’s will. Sometimes the will of God is not totally revealed to us. If God’s will is not revealed to you, but you know that you can ask and be confident of the answer only when you know God’s will, then prayer moves to another level; it is the level of seeking God’s will. In this case you are asking God for His perspective on your need. God says in the book of Isaiah that if you ask Him you will find Him, if you search for Him with your whole heart.
“Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah, 29:12-13).
Search for God in prayer! Seek those things that are above! Search out the will of God! And you will surely find!God bless you!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

Jesus must be the centre of everything. Every member does its share and then the Body grows in the love of God and every one enjoys and benefits from it. We will all enjoy the Church, if every one of us does his or her part to the best of our abilities. I need to do only what I am able to do and not worry about what I do not have and what I cannot do, – otherwise i will be crush under such burden. I must only concentrate my attention on how to multiply my talents.
  • When we pray, invisible chains that bind people suddenly fall off! II

You may ask why people act the way they act? Why don’t people sometimes understand very elementary things? Why do people hear the truth, but do not change? There are invisible things that keep people in bondage. There are strongholds that cannot be destroyed by teaching, sermons, instructions and lectures. They are spiritual things. What happens when the church prays? These strongholds collapse and some real changes take place. We cannot afford not to pray and try to admonish other people; usually people listen to us, say that they understand, but do the same thing all over again.
  • All great things always start small and insignificant

Yesterday we began talking about how all great things always start small and insignificant. In order to enter the fullness of your calling and ministry, we need to do what is revealed to us today whatever that would be. Your knowledge, your experience and your mind – these are all gifts from God which we can use in serving people. When you serve people with your gifts, then these gifts make room for you. «A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men» (Proverbs, 18: 16).Studying the church history, we see that all of God’s generals didn’t start big. These people used what they had and did whatever they could. They began using the abilities they had. Eventually, their gifts found their place in the Body of Christ and grew into large ministries.
  • Your gift will make room for you

Today I would like to start talking about the topic I have titled as: “Your gift will make room for you”. The Word of God says: «A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men» (Proverbs, 18: 16).Your gift will make room for you and will broaden your boarders, if you won’t hide it. So many times believers ask: «Where is my place in the Body of Christ? What is my calling?»Do what you know. This simple principle gives an answer to many questions. Find the thing that you know how to do; find what you can do to promote the Kingdom of God, to help the church to grow and to extend your influence in the society.
  • You won’t have a ministry if you don’t start using what you have now

The topic of our devotion today is “Your gift will make room for you”.We have been talking about how all big things start small, whether it is a known person, great ministry, great accomplishments or great influence. It all starts when a person does what he can do and does it with all his might as unto the Lord with faith and consistency. When one has such attitude towards life he will have his or her reward from the Lord. Such a person will be blessed and exalted by God. His or her gift will make room for him or her in God’s overall picture and the Body of Christ.Person’s gift will make room for him and will bring him before great men, – this is on of the Bible principles; the Bible teaches about it and also it can be seen in the lives of the people in the Bible.
