Preparation is a key to effective life

Good day, dear friends! Thanks to God for this awesome day He granted us with! Thank Him for another opportunity to get filled with His living word! Today I wish to discuss with you a very important topic: “preparation is a key to effective life”. In reality, effective life is impossible without appropriate preparation. Jesus solved the question of effectiveness by preparing Himself for the ministry. There is almost no information about what Jesus had been doing during the first 30 years of His life. Gospels tell us the story about His ministry. Meanwhile, we need to understand that prior to starting His ministry Jesus had been seriously preparing himself for quite a long time. «The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.» (Luke 2:40). Jesus was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, developing certain skills and calling Himself to discipline. For example, He regularly communicated with the Father: «But the report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. But he withdrew himself into the desert, and prayed.» (Luke 5:15-16).Jesus often fasted. (see Luke 4:1-16) When people came to Jesus asking for healing, Jesus never rejected them saying He would need to fast for 7 days first and only then pray for their healing. Not like that, He always was in shape, always ready to serve people, because He kept preparing Himself for ministry. The Bible prompts us to be ready at all times: «But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear.» ( 1 Peter 3:15). «preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching.» (2 Timothy 4:2). Influential people always work on themselves. God always prepares the vessel He is using. Are you letting Him to prepare yourself? Your future starts today as the following verses of Scripture say: «Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves; for tomorrow Yahweh will do wonders among you.» (Joshua 3:5).«Yahweh said to Moses, “Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments, and be ready against the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.» (Exodus 19:10-11).«Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.» (Matthew 6:34). If you take care for tomorrow, tomorrow will take care for itself. If you skip your preparation for tomorrow today, tomorrow will bring you only bitterness and failure. Today is important! What are doing with your life today? What are you doing with the word of God today? What are you doing with His call today? Commence your self-preparation today, so that your tomorrow can delight you! We will continue tomorrow! Be blessed in the Lord! Rufus Adjiboye, pastor

  • When you live in obedience to His Word, God protects you from sorrows and tragedies that fill this world nowadays

Today I would like to point out a very important truth: if you are obedient to God in your actions and in your life in general, then the very same thing that destroys others will lift you up. In the Scripture above we can see that the same waters, which destroyed the world by flooding it, raised Noah’s ark that he had built according to the Word of God. The very same waters destroyed some people and lifted up somebody else – Noah. To the faithful Noah, flood waters brought salvation.
  • How to set grace free in our lives? II

The law of sowing and reaping governs how favour works. It is necessary to look at favour as a seed that must be sown. Jesus said that, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” (Matthew 5:7).In other words, Jesus is saying, “Blessed are those who have sown favour or mercy, because they will reap favour or mercy”.Generally, the level of favour operating in your life depends on the level of the seed of favour you sow into other people’s lives. This means that I cannot expect the harvest of favour in my life until I have not sown mercy into other people’s lives.
  • Life without prayer is a road to nowhere II

    1. Set apart some time for prayer and commit to it.2. Plan where you will pray.It does not have to be at home, but you also do not need to turn prayer into some religious ritual. Be creative when you choose the place for prayer. For instance, there was a time in my life when I made walking into prayer time. I called it “a prayer walk”. I went out in the street for the purpose of prayer.
  • God trusts us and relies on us

Yesterday we discoursed that in one hand we believe in God, trust and rely on Him, while in the other hand God trusts us and relies on us. God needs us the moment when He lacks some of His bear necessities.« Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention; … Then will they call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me; Because they hated knowledge, And didn’t choose the fear of Yahweh. » (Proverbs 1:24, 28, 29).
  • The importance of having the right connection between your evenings and your mornings

What does this tell us? It tells us that God started His day in the evening. It is very important for us to borrow this wisdom from our Heavenly Father. If we get up in the morning and only then start thinking about what we need to do for the day, then we are already starting it in the wrong manner and have already starting too late. The last moment to start your day is the evening of the previous day. In the evening we need to have a composed idea of what we are doing the next day. We need to have a plan for the next day. Before we go to bed we need to have a vision for the next day. If we are too lazy to make any plans for the next day before going to bed then we are heading towards poverty both physical and spiritual. It is crucial for us to accept this wisdom from God to start the day in the evening of the previous day: «So the evening and the morning were the first day».
  • The lordship of Jesus Christ

The phrase „Jesus is Lord!” is quite often used by the children of God. But being the children of God, we cannot treat this concept in a superficial or religious manner. The lordship of Jesus has a deep spiritual meaning. We should not casually proclaim or declare His lordship without the correct understanding of what it really implies. God wants us today to discover for ourselves what the true essence of the lordship of Jesus is and to act accordingly.
