The importance of stopping all activities and being alone with God

Greeting to your, dear readers of „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! I want to share with you lessons from the life of a woman for Canaan that are recorded in Chapter 15 of the Gospel of Mathew. Many of us know this story very well.
«Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.” But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send here away, for she cries out after us.” But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Then she came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour» (Mathew, 15:21-28).
There are many different stories of women, mothers and fathers in the Bible. There are many biblical heroes that have left examples of how we need and how we do not need to live. The main idea of this story is mother’s reward for being persistent in prayer for her children.Let’s try to look at this story more carefully. Here we see JesusHis disciples, a woman and her daughter, – they all played a particular part in this story. And the story left certain impression on every of its players. Firstly, we read that Jesus departed from a place and left for Tyre and Sidon. He moved away from the land of Judah or Israel and entered pagan territory to rest from ministry. We can read about in Mark (7:24):
«From there He arose and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And He entered a house and wanted no one to know it, but He could not be hidden.»
Jesus came to Tyra and Sidon to find some solitude and rest from people because His last day was coming closer – the day of His death on the Golgotha. Possibly, Jesus wanted to be alone with His Father to discuss what was awaiting Him on the Golgotha. Thus, Jesus was showing us an example of stopping all activities and being alone with God. We also need – every once in a while – to leave all the clutter of this world and all its cares and to find time for being alone with the Father. God is calling you today to find right time and a right place to be alone with God even among all the cares and stresses of this world. By doing it you will be able to gain access to godly wisdom, receive peace from God and succeed in this life. May God help you in it! We will continue tomorrow.Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

Many people ask themselves a question of why they feel inner emptiness. So many continue to walk the wrong way in their lives, and it goes on day after day. They feel their life to be aimless and they continue their walk unmotivated.Multitudes of people do not have a clue of why they live and whether the life is worth living. All of these things happen because they do not have a clear purpose for living.
  • We have to be ready to go wherever God sends us to

As we concluded yesterday, we have to become obedient disciples, so that our families, our church and our towns can be stirred. God uses obedient disciples to fulfil His prophesies and restore His will on Earth. Even more, we have to be ready to go wherever God sends us to. Thus we can fulfil our calling. Obedience to call begins with obedience to short instructions God gives to us through His word and our leaders in Christ. It´s also important to know that Jesus knows everything, He possesses all hidden information, necessary for our mission. That´s why obedience to the Lord who knows everything is vitally important! When Jesus had a need for a donkey to ride upon to Jerusalem, He knew where to find the animal. He knew where to go and find that donkey. He knew how to bring that donkey to Him.
  • God wants His children to be a part of the solution for His needs!

Some of you may wonder: “Does God have any problems or needs, He is the Almighty One, isn´t He?” The point is that God has decided to limit Himself by people. In the material world, in some situations and in some spheres of life God has decided not to do certain things without people participation. In other words, it doesn´t matter how hard we pray or fast about certain problems, those will not be solved unless the right person appears at the right place.
  • Dedication precedes provision II

To call upon God – it means to have a stable prayer life. God desires you to have consistent and stable prayer life. You have to have a place where you call upon Him.«But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly» (Mathew, 6:6).

«For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope»(Jeremiah, 29:11)I just want to tell you one important thing today; this might apply to just one, two or three people, but it is worth mentioning: if you have been filling your heart with God’s Word for a long time and have been guarding your heart, but you do not yet see the results or fruit, it means God is putting in you a very deep and solid foundation, because He is going to raise a strong and important structure.
