The Kingdom of God II

Peace to you, dear readers of „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”!I thank God for you and pray that this day be filled with great victories over different circumstances in your life.We began talking about the Kingdom of God. Yesterday we established that God wants to see His Kingdom spreading throughout this earth. God desires for the kingdoms of this earth to become the kingdom of God and Christ. We also realized that His Kingdom will surely come, but it is important for this to happen with you and me participating. We are calling each believer to actively participate in spreading of God’s Kingdom on this earth and to hold a position of an overcomer in Christ. In order to expand God’s Kingdom we need to fight and to put forth effort.
«And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force» (Mathew, 11:12).
It is impossible to establish God’s Kingdom in our hearts, our lives, our families and all the spheres of our influence without putting forth particular effort. In order for God’s Kingdom to grow we will need to fight and to engage in warfare. So if you have made a decision to have part in expansion of God’s Kingdom in this earth, you can not be a passive observer. Only active people that have taken a position of overcomers in Christ are able to establish the Kingdom in their lives and around them. There is no need to overcome, if there is nothing to overcome. We must realize that we are in the midst of terrible spiritual fight. Indifference makes a person more vulnerable to the enemy.
«For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…» (2 Corinthians, 10:3-5).
We live or walk in a flesh, but we do not war according to the flesh. We are talking about spiritual war, not about physical wrestle. Let’s look at another fragment of Scripture:
«Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand» (Ephesians, 6:10-13).
This passage of Scripture points out several important truths.Firstly, we do not simply war; we war in order to expand God’s Kingdom and to continue His work on this earth. Secondly, we do not war against people of flesh and blood, so our weapons must be spiritual and not physical. That is because «we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places». And so « the weapons of our warfare are not carnal».Besides, it is very important to understand that we do not just war, but we war from the position of being overcomers in Christ. We are not trying to win this war; the victory has already been won by Christ. In Him we have already overcome, and we must war from this position and having that kind of understanding. The Book of Revelation clearly states that only overcomers can inherit and expand the Kingdom of God.
«He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son» (Revelation, 21: 7).
The one who overcomes is the one who has a revelation of his victory in Christ and being armed with this revelation he overcomes all hindrances on the way to the fulfilment of his mission from God.If you want to be one of those people that expand God’s Kingdom you must take your position as an overcomer in Christ Jesus. God has already done everything necessary for us to overcome every barrier on our way. He has done everything He needed to do to make us able to spread His Kingdom as soon as we receive this Kingdom ourselves. We must learn the armor He has provided for this fight and to be very diligent in using it. We will talk about it tomorrow.Remember that in Christ you are victors and overcomers!Be blessed!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Searching for the meaning of life III

We have been talking about search for the meaning of life. We are using the life of Solomon, the son of David as our example. Solomon was the wisest person on earth. We saw that in the beginning of his life Solomon obtained wisdom and riches, because he loved God and knew Him. But there came a time in his life, when he forsook God and followed other gods. At that time Solomon tried to satisfy his soul with different things; he looked for happiness in different places. Eventually, Solomon realized that it is impossible to be happy and satisfied in this life without God.
  • Rejoice in the Lord!

The Bible says that «God loves a cheerful giver» (2 Corinthians, 9:7). So it says that God not only loves givers, but He delights in cheerful giving. It is so essential for us no only to serve God, but also to do it with joy.
  • The forms of accountability in the life of a Christian

    (1) Teacher – apprentice. We see examples of this type of relationship in Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, Paul and Timothy. This form of accountability implies having a disciple or apprentice that you invest yourself into helping him to grow in God. This type of relationship means that a teacher is responsible for his disciple and the disciple submits to his teacher. It helps both teachers and disciples to grow in Jesus Christ and walk in submission to the Lord.
  • The changes in our lives take place when we become the doers of the Word

«Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does» (James, 1:21-25).
  • There are three main types of believers: observers, consumers/users and servants!

What type of a believer are you? What are you: an observer, a user or a servant? Today we will attempt to establish what distinguishes observers and consumers from servants.Observes do not care for what goes on around them; they demonstrate indifference. What happens in church does not concern him; he thinks that he only needs to attend Sunday services. He is there for the worship and the sermon and it is enough for him. Such a believer has no problems; he is doing fine at work and at home. He simply observes the events around him and he is happy.
  • The Christian as an ambassador

There are many metaphors used in the Bible to reveal to us what are our essence and our task on the Earth. The word “messenger or “ambassador” is one of them. Paul uses this word in his letter to Corinthians:«Namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us. We beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God». (2nd Corinthians 5:19-20).
