The lordship of Jesus Christ III

Greetings to you, dear friends! I thank God for the opportunity to dig into the Word of God today. I pray that the victory of the Lord would be expressed today in a bigger way than ever before in all areas of your life.We are continuing our conversation about the lordship of Jesus Christ. God reigns on the earth and in heaven. When we talk about the lordship of Jesus, we mean that His rule covers everything and everybody. We have already mentioned that God has shared His rule with the mankind, having entrusted people with authority and dominion on the earth. Adam and Eve were given authority to rule on the earth, because God Himself wanted that.Nevertheless, we know that Adam lost this authority and dominion because of sin. Since then Adam did not have dominion over his enemy, but the enemy has had dominion over Adam. After the fall the enemy not only had the dominion, but he also has been oppressing Adam’s soul and body. Because of the fall all the following generation became slaves to the enemy. But, thanks to the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ, mankind has been given back what Adam had lost. Everyone that has been born of God can do now what Adam couldn’t. And it is true because Jesus is Lord! When we have an understanding what the lordship of Jesus Christ and His rule over all things, including Satan, mean we can begin establishing the will of God in all areas of our life. We can walk in victory identifying ourselves with the victory of Jesus Christ. We can order Satan to get out of our land, our garden, so to speak, and he has to obey us. That is what Adam did not do, when the serpent came into the garden that was entrusted to Adam by God. Satan deviously entered Adam’s territory and stole his dominion over it. Adam lost his authority over the earth that was delegated to him by God. But thank God for Jesus Christ! Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus the process started by the fall was reversed and today we once again can command Satan to get out of our lives and he will obey.It says in the Bible:
«Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you» (James, 4:7).
The same idea is highlighted in another verse of Scripture:
«Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world» (1 Peter, 5:8-9).
From these two passages of Scripture we see that God gives us a particular task – to resist the devil and he will flee from us. It is possible because Jesus is Lord!We must arm ourselves with the understanding of importance of the lordship of Jesus Christ.Satan was able to deceive the first man Adam, and through deceit he stole away the blessings that God had intended for mankind. But the devil could not do anything to the second Adam – Jesus Christ. The devil cannot deny the fact that Jesus is Lord! If we understand the lordship of Jesus and act accordingly, then the devil will be forced to submit to us.I want you to understand the following: all the things that the first Adam lost – authority and dominion – were regained for us by Jesus Christ. Now, because of Jesus’ victory, we can once again rule in His name. Jesus has always been the Lord, but He descended from heaven to the earth and regained for us the right to use His Name as the Lord and the Master of this earth, so that we could subdue all things and submit to His will all those things that resist God.God bless you today!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Searching for the meaning of life

Many people ask themselves a question of why they feel inner emptiness. So many continue to walk the wrong way in their lives, and it goes on day after day. They feel their life to be aimless and they continue their walk unmotivated. Multitudes of people do not have a clue of why they live and whether the life is worth living. All of these things happen because they do not have a clear purpose for living. The lack of such a purpose often causes violence, different types of evil, disappointments, emptiness, despair, hopelessness, apathy, anger and so on.
  • Preparation of the way of the Lord II

Yesterday we started talking about God’s desire to demonstrate His glory and fullness in our lives; for this to happen we have to prepare our hearts and to prepare the way of the Lord. We have to cleanse our hearts from the things that God hates and cannot look upon. The following verses from the Scripture reveal the principle of preparation the way of the Lord.«In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; make His paths straight.’”» (Mathew, 3:1-3).
  • Wisdom of a man and wisdom of God

There are a wisdom of this world and God´s wisdom. God´s wisdom differs from the wisdom of this world the way that it´s hidden until the God Himself reveals it to the people. As for the wisdom of this world, that´s a human wisdom gained using five methods of perception, or sense: hearing, sight, touch, smell, and taste, which are the natural channels used to gain a knowledge.Differently from God´s wisdom that exists for our glory, the wisdom of a man once passes away. The Bible says, that «the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men», even more His wisdom is. God´s wisdom is much higher than the wisdom of a man.
  • The counselling IV

Let’s talk about another quality Jethro possessed: he did not pressure Moses to accept his advice. We can see in the Scripture, which I would like us to look at:«If you do this thing, and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all this people will also go to their place in peace» (Exodus, 18:23).We can see here that Jethro did not demand Moses to accept his advice, but gave him a chance to make a choice himself. The phrase “if you do this thing” means that even if Moses did not listen to Jethro, he would not be upset. So he knew he could not take it personally if Moses chooses a different way.
