The lordship of Jesus Christ III

Greetings to you, dear friends! I thank God for the opportunity to dig into the Word of God today. I pray that the victory of the Lord would be expressed today in a bigger way than ever before in all areas of your life.

We are continuing our conversation about the lordship of Jesus Christ. God reigns on earth and in heaven. When we talk about the lordship of Jesus, we mean that His rule covers everything and everybody. We have already mentioned that God has shared His rule with mankind, having entrusted people with authority and dominion on the earth. Adam and Eve were given authority to rule on the earth, because God Himself wanted that.

Nevertheless, we know that Adam lost this authority and dominion because of sin. Since then Adam has not had dominion over his enemy, but the enemy has had dominion over Adam. After the fall the enemy not only had dominion, but he also has been oppressing Adam’s soul and body. Because of the fall all the following generations became slaves to the enemy. But, thanks to the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ, mankind has been given back what Adam had lost. Everyone that has been born of God can do now what Adam couldn’t. And it is true because Jesus is Lord!

When we have an understanding of what the lordship of Jesus Christ and His rule over all things, including Satan, mean, we can begin establishing the will of God in all areas of our life. We can walk in victory, identifying ourselves with the victory of Jesus Christ. We can order Satan to get out of our land-our garden, so to speak-and he has to obey us. That is what Adam did not do when the serpent came into the garden that was entrusted to Adam by God. Satan deviously entered Adam’s territory and stole his dominion over it. Adam lost his authority over the earth that was delegated to him by God. But thank God for Jesus Christ! Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus the process started by the fall was reversed and today we once again can command Satan to get out of our lives and he will obey.

It says in the Bible:

«Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you» (James, 4:7).

The same idea is highlighted in another verse of Scripture:

«Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world» (1 Peter, 5:8-9).

From these two passages of Scripture we see that God gives us a particular task – to resist the devil, and he will flee from us. It is possible because Jesus is Lord!

We must arm ourselves with an understanding of the importance of the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Satan was able to deceive the first man Adam, and through deceit he stole away the blessings that God had intended for mankind. But the devil could not do anything to the second Adam – Jesus Christ. The devil cannot deny the fact that Jesus is Lord! If we understand the lordship of Jesus and act accordingly, then the devil will be forced to submit to us.

I want you to understand the following: all the things that the first Adam lost – authority and dominion – were regained for us by Jesus Christ. Now, because of Jesus’ victory, we can once again rule in His name. Jesus has always been the Lord, but He descended from heaven to the earth and regained for us the right to use His Name as the Lord and the Master of this earth, so that we could subdue all things and submit to His will all those things that resist God.

God bless you today!

Today I would like to complete our discussion about searching for a goal of our life, and how we can find true happiness under the sun. We observed Solomon who measured long and burdensome way looking for his happiness and satisfaction. Thanks God for having it written for us, so that we can avoid the mistakes Solomon mentions in the book of Proverbs. Solomon has understood that life without God is an absolute illusion, but happiness without God is a mirage. This is what he writes as a conclusion to his book:«This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every work into judgement, with every hidden thing, whether it is good, or whether it is evil.» (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).

  • Life without prayer is a road to nowhere

When a person repents, he can start developing his prayer life. We must know that God does not turn away from us even when we do not pray. God is very patient and He wants us to understand that without prayer we are spiritually weak and unable to enter the things He has prepared for us. Effective prayer is the thing that opens a way for us and allows God to walk ahead of us. God waits until we come to full realization of it. He is good to His children, but His goodness must lead us to repentance. Many people do not understand it. Sometimes we do things that go against God’s orders and at the same time we feel like it is alright.
