The nurturing of hope during the times of pain and trials

Good day to you, dear friends! I hope that this „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification” inspires you daily. Please, let us know how God encourages you through this teaching. It will be an encouragement for us.We talked about the fact that problems in themselves do not make us mature if we do not make proper steps. Right actions are the outcome of right understanding. For this very reason, for the past two days we have been discussing the need to have the revelation of inevitability of problems and of the nature and essence of problems. Today let’s talk about the nurturing of hope during the times of pain and trials. Let’s read Paul’s Epistle to Romans (8:24-25):
“For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.”
These verses remind us that we have been saved in the hope. When you go through pain, you cannot lose hope. According to the „Good News Bible”, Romans (8:24-25) says the following:
«The waiting does not belittle (humiliate) us just like it does not belittle (humiliate) a pregnant woman. We only grow in our waiting. Of course, we do not yet see that which is growing in us. But the more we wait the bigger it becomes, and our expectations become more joyful».
Here we see that hope helps us move forward in spite of the temporary hardships. We also see that biblical hope is bigger than just passive waiting for the changes in our situation. Biblical hope stimulates inner growth. It is like a baby in mother’s womb, which grows until the time of delivery comes.God desires of us to wait in hope for the full redemption of our bodies which is going to occur at the Coming of Jesus. Such a hope helps us to not only patiently go through any pain and sufferings, but also to grow and be transformed by expectation of our Lord.In order for us not to lose heart, we have to feed ourselves with the Word of God and draw the power from the Holy Spirit living in us. During this time of expectation we do have the Holy Spirit Who strengthens and empowers us. During the times of pain and suffering pray to God „with groanings that cannot be uttered”and let the Holy Spirit strengthen you in the moments of weakness.
«Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God» (Romans, 8: 26-27).
«At the times when we tire from the waiting God’s Spirit is always along us to help us. It does not matter if we do not know how to pray and for what. He completes our prayer in us and for us, creating prayer from the groanings that cannot be uttered. He knows us better than we do ourselves, knows our pregnant state and continuously holds us before God» (Good News Bible). So, nurture the hope in you by praying in the spirit, strengthening your heart by God’s Word and trusting the Holy Spirit. May your difficulties renew and strengthen your inner man daily.Till tomorrow!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

As a base we will use a passage from Mark chapter 4, where Jesus Himself was speaking in parables. In this chapter there are three parables, through which Jesus explains the power and the potential hidden in a small seed. First I would like to simply recount these parables, but later we will look at each of them in more detail. The first parable that Jesus talked about is the parable of the sower. This parable shows that there is a whole list of obstacles that make it difficult for seeds to grow and bear fruit. In this parable, Jesus went ahead to show us three types of obstacles which can impede the growth of the seeds that we sow. (Mark 4:3-20)
  • Ministry changes a selfish person into a loving, compassionate servant of the Lord

It is not a secret that we are all born selfish. Someone might argue and say that does not apply to him or that he is not selfish. If you say that then you are lying! We are all selfish, except the transforming grace of God!What does it mean to be selfish?· A selfish person is one who lives only for himself. He only cares about his world and does not notice what is happening to others around him. A selfish person is only concerned about his life and his comforts.
  • The seed contains tremendous potential

Our attitude towards God’s Word is very important. God sends His Word into our lives so that His Word would bring to us that which we need. In order for the seed of God’s Word to grow in our hearts, the condition of our hearts is particularly important. «For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing which I sent it.» (Isaiah 55:10-11).
  • God comes to us seeking for fruits of saved souls in our life

Let me ask you a question: “Did you just suddenly repented by yourself or somebody helped you with that by sharing the gospel with you? I believed somebody pray for you and shared Gospel with you!I am sure your coming to God was the result of someone’s efforts. Every sinner who ever repented is a fruit that result from someone’s labour. You probably may not even know the person who actually prayed for you and for the salvation of your soul.
  • The Christian as an ambassador II

After Jesus left the earth and ascended to heaven, He commissioned us to be His ambassadors or the sent ones (His representatives) on the earth. So we must understand and receive a profound revelation concerning the spiritual authority and power that we have in Christ. The Bible says that Christ made us kings and priests in order that we can reign on earth for Him. It is God, our heavenly Father desires that we all to be busy about His business. His business is to reconcile people with Him. God desires to do the work of reconciliation through us – «we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God». He wants us to declare the word of reconciliation. « God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation » (2 Corinthians, 5:19).
  • Lay hold on eternal life! II

«But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses» (1Timothy, 6:11-12).We say that these three things help us to lay hold on eternal life. We also established that eternal life has its beginning on earth when we get to know the only true God and His Son Jesus Christ.
