How do we serve God?

Hello Friends!
Thank God for another wonderful and new day that the Lord has made. Let us do our best to make this day as effective and qualitative as we can. Let us do our best to spend this day to the benefit of God’s Kingdom, to our own benefit and to the benefit of others. May the goodness and the mercies of God accompany you throughout this day in Jesus’ Name.

We will continue our discussion on serving God. The word I want to share with you today is in a question form and we will try to answer that question together. Here is the question: How do we serve God?

We serve God by serving other people in His Name. To serve God actually means to serve other people in the Name of God or as the representative of God on the earth. It is to do good to others by meeting their spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical or material needs as an act of our love for God.

Please understand that your love for God will have a reflection in your relationship with others. In the same way, your neglect of God reflects on how you relate to your neighbour.

“If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? 7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand? 8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man” (Job 35: 6-8).

The above scriptures accurately illustrate that in the long run, it is people around us that will either benefit or suffer because of our relationship with God or its absence.

All that we think we are giving to God actually benefits people like us on the earth. Our ministry or service to God is to be taken as a service to people created in the image of God.

Jesus said in Matthew 25:40

“… Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me”.

What we do to others, Jesus receives as if we have done it to Him.
One time Jesus asked Peter if he loves Him. After receiving a confirmation from Peter that he loves Jesus, the Lord said: “if you love me, then feed my sheep” (John 21:16).

This is saying to us that if we really love God and are serving Him, that should move us to serve others in His Name.

“For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister”.(Hebrews 6:10).

God keeps a record of all that we do for others in His name. He accepts our acts of love in relation to people, as an expression of our love to Him.

We show our love towards God by ministering to the saints.
As you go about your daily activities today, remember to minister to the Lord both in words and in deed, by doing just that to the people around you. That is how you serve the Lord.

Here on earth mere men receive your service and your gifts, but in Heaven, the Lord Jesus receives all of these things (Hebrews 7: 8). So do all things you do from the heart as unto the Lord, for He is the one who will reward you (Colossian 3:17; 23-24).

God’s word for you today is this: Do not forget that you serve God by serving the people He has put in your life or the people He leads you to on a daily basis.

Remember, you cannot say you love God whom you have not seen unless you first love your brothers and sisters whom you have seen.

Remain blessed!

  • We are the new creation in Christ Jesus, made for good deeds the Lord has determined for us II

«For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.»(Ephesians 2:8-10).Here we can see that person is not made righteous by his deeds. God never declares somebody righteous by his many good works. Vice verse, God makes righteous those who accept His gift by faith, namely Christ Jesus. A person becomes good in God´s eyes by faith when he believes in good works God has done in Christ.

  • Worship the Lord

God wants us to talk to Him the way we talk to our father. Jesus said in His prayer: “… blessed be Thy Name!” The word “bless” means He worshipped the God Father in reverence to Him. Worship prepares our soul to meet the God. It also involves our spirit. Just like in order to listen to a broadcast on the radio you need to tune it up first, worship helps us to turn our spirit on and tune it up on the God´s wave. Jesus taught:«You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve»

esus is our model in everything. He is the Author, the Master and the Maintainer of our faith. Therefore, Jesus set an example for us, so that we can follow his steps.«For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps» (1 Peter 2:21).From the very beginning of His life on this Earth Jesus was clearly aware of His goal. He was extraordinary passionate to the business of His Father in His Spirit. There is a story from Jesus childhood in the Bible, it tells us how He was growing and becoming strong in spirit

  • The person who daily fills his heart with God’s Word has several advantages

    1. God makes the feet of this person strong as the feet of deer. This person is able to run and not get weary. When he or she faces an obstacle or a wall, he has the strength to get over it. This thought is profound: the person who is filled with God’s light has power to overcome the difficulties of life. There are no invincible barriers for him. When the light of God comes into the person’s life, God’s wisdom comes with it and helps overcome all obstacles.

  • Ignorance is a matter of personal choice

If a person does not fulfil this duty, he won’t have enough light to see evil and hide from it. Besides, this verse tells us that such a person (he or she is called „simple”) goes ahead and is punished – not by God, but by his own ignorance. Ignorance separates a person from the life of God, because he knows nothing about God’s provision. «..having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart» (Ephesians, 4:18).Because of ignorance human mind is darkened, heart is hardened and he himself is alienated from the life of God.

  • In order for us to do the works of Jesus, we must ask for it in prayer!

«Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son» (John, 14:12-13).When Jesus Himself says ‘most assuredly’, it means He wants us to pay attention. These two verses are connected. Jesus says that we can do the works that Jesus did and even more, if we pray. Jesus tried to tell His disciples that He has been given all authority in heaven and on earth and that He will represent them in heaven, because He will be sitting with Him on the heavenly throne. Jesus told His disciples that they should ask in His name and that He would do what they ask so that His Father would be glorified.
