Value God’s Word! III

I am happy to speak to you today through our „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”.For several days now we have been talking about the role of God’s Word in our lives. We talked about the Word of God being our life and about the fact that our right attitude towards it can prolong our days. Also we learned that our attitude towards God’s Words determines how strong the foundation of our lives will be and how able we are to withstand the troubles of this life. Today I would like to look at another facet that demonstrates the significance of God’s Word for us.
«So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking He said to Simon, „Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, „Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.» (Luke 5:1-6)
In this passage of Scripture we see that people were eager to hear God’s Word and were looking for Jesus. Jesus started to teach them. Jesus Himself loved the Word and also loved to teach it, because He understood the importance of it and knew that the Word brings life. Here we also see that Peter and his partners were upset and disappointed, unhappy and saddened. They were washing their empty nets. Despite their working all night long they had not caught any fish. Such a situation would be hard to bear for anybody who had done his best, used all his knowledge but with no result.Peter and his friends were ready to give up. But it was just at that moment that Jesus stepped into their situation. When Jesus stepped into any situation, the situation changes at once. And for this reason they were willing to take their washed nets and let them down for a catch in the place shown by Jesus. Instead of giving up they went back to work.Peter said: «..nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.» They let down their net because they had heard the word of Jesus; they obeyed the word and it brought results.  Jesus said that if a man hears and does the Word of God his life will be sound and firmly settled as a house built on the Rock.Obedience to God’s Word will give strength to your life, your family, your business and will add stability to every area of your life. Peter’s business that was on the verge of bankruptcy was not only suddenly revived, but was expanded and enlarged. When Peter let down the net according to the word of Jesus, the catch was so much that he had to ask for help to pull up all the fish into the boat. Why did a near bankruptcy suddenly turn into a breakthrough and expansion of business? It is because the Word of God makes a difference in our lives. When Jesus steps into your situations, the situations change completely.Dear friend, you may be in depression and despair, because your efforts have not brought the desired results. I believe that when Jesus enters into that situation everything will change. So, don’t give up, but invite Jesus into your situation and things will change.Nevertheless, I have to caution you that today Jesus does not come to us physically; He comes to us and intervenes in our situations through His Word. So ask Jesus to send you His Word.May the word from this page revive you and bring changes into your life! May the Lord bless you!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Are you in bondage, in the wilderness or in your promise land?

We read about how God promised the children of Israel a land flowing with milk and honey, but when it came time to possess it, as a nation they were not ready. There are attitudes that keep you in bondage and wandering in the wilderness, while a promised land flowing with milk and honey awaits you. The Bible is full of the record of sins that plagued the rest of the children of Israel which we are to be aware of today in our lives.
  • Your gift will make room for you! IV

In the Gospel of Mathew Jesus told a parable about Master giving his servants different talents. «For the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey» (Mathew, 25: 14-15).Jesus shows us here that the criterion of His assessment is not quantity, but faithfulness. God know that every one of us has different abilities, so the quantitative result will be different for different people. Numbers are not important to Jesus; He cares about how faithful you have been with what God has given you. He cares about your attitude towards His work.
  • Walk in the light and do not give place to the devil! III

If we walk in the ways of the Lord and guard our ways, then God will give us authority to rule, command and walk among angels. If we will walk in the ways of God and receive the lordship of Jesus Christ, we will be able effectively hinder the work of the devil in our lives and the lives of the people around us.Satan will never be able to dispute the fact that Jesus Christ is Lord. But if we are unclean before the Lord, then the devil can dispute the reality of this truth in our lives and oppose us.
  • Confess your sins and repent of them as soon as the Holy Spirit convicts you

«For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light» (Mark, 4:22).Here we see a very important truth spoken by Jesus. According to this Scripture everything hidden will be revealed. If we accept this truth then we will want to live righteously before God and men. Our every wrongdoing and ungodly deed sooner or later will be brought out in the light, and all our secret works sooner or later will come into the open; all our unconfessed, unrecognized and secret sins sooner or later will become obvious for everybody.
  • Lay hold on eternal life! III

Laying hold of eternal life means that a person strives to stay on the narrow road which leads to eternal life. Jesus knew that it would be so convenient for many to walk the broad road; being on this road, a person feels comfortable and lives without any restrictions; he does what he wants to do and is not limited by any commitments. But the Bible says that it is the way of sin, because a person is not accountable and moves ‘without brakes’, so to speak; this way leads to destruction. God says that we shouldn’t walk on this way. We must flee sin; we must cast aside all the worldly, ungodly things that hinder us, otherwise we won’t get to our destination – eternal life. Jesus says that many people will deny faith.
  • The Christian as an ambassador II

After Jesus left the earth and ascended to heaven, He commissioned us to be His ambassadors or the sent ones (His representatives) on the earth. So we must understand and receive a profound revelation concerning the spiritual authority and power that we have in Christ. The Bible says that Christ made us kings and priests in order that we can reign on earth for Him. It is God, our heavenly Father desires that we all to be busy about His business. His business is to reconcile people with Him. God desires to do the work of reconciliation through us – «we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God». He wants us to declare the word of reconciliation. « God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation » (2 Corinthians, 5:19).
