We are the salt of the earth and light of the world

Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ! Welcome to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”!We continue talking about our role and function as God’s ambassadors on the earth. We’ve talked about the Bible calling us Christ’s ambassadors; God has sent us to encourage people to be reconciled with God. The Bible also calls us the salt of the earth and the light to the world. But if we as Christ’s ambassadors on earth do not actively practise our faith, then our society will deteriorate. Today, if we look at successful and prosperous countries, we can see the reason of their success and prosperity is because the people there embrace and practice Christian values. Only righteousness exalts a nation – Thai is a law, – God’s law. Only righteousness makes a nation prosperous! Injustice and sin destroy a nation.The bible says: 
 «Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavour, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another» (Mark, 9:50).
 As we see in this verse, salt is a good thing, and Christina faith is profitable and necessary for every society. The society that has Christians living in it is a place blessed by God. But the society will only be blessed when the believers will confidently function as Christ’s messengers, as the salt of the earth and the light to the world. As believers we must be blessing to the people around us. We must fill the air around us with the light of the truth. We must reveal to the world our Lord Jesus Christ as being the Author of life. The nature of God that we bear in ourselves is what makes us the salt in our society. But if we do not accept God’s nature and lead a selfish lifestyle, if we do not reflect God’s light and live like the world, then we become useless and lose our ability to change society. The Gospel of Mathew recites particular character traits that we need to develop in ourselves in order to truly become the salt that does not lose its strength and to be a blessing for the earth. When believers will begin to ‘salt’ the society with God’s truth and the values of God’s Kingdom, then God will change our society – through His children. We will talk more on this tomorrow.     Accountability is a sincere confession or opening of one’s secrets of his Christian walk to the others in the atmosphere of mutual trust. We are ready to give account of what we do with our lives, what we understand or do not understand, in what areas are weak or in need of assistance. When we are accountable we are willing to admit whether we are growing or not. We are able to give account of what we are learning in order to receive support, encouragement or correction.

    Once we understand our life is a test, many questioned get solved by themselves and we can rejoice and enjoy our life. Those who understand that life is a test, they treat every difficult situation as an opportunity, not as an obstacle. The Bible often tells us how God tests His children. He is not doing it because He hates us nor because He wants to see our fall. Not at all! God puts us in test for few reasons. God blessed Abraham with a son first, then tested him asking to sacrifice his son on the altar. God allowed ordeals in Job’s life, then Job went through all that horror and bitterness.

    If you arm yourself with the knowledge that problems and trials are a test to all of us, and once it´s passed we receive a certain reward from God, then a holy desire to win given by God will be awaken within you. None of you is born willing to be a loser in this life. We all desire to win, but no win where is no battle. For the problems and trials are those battles we either get defeated or celebrate the victory at. Going through hardships and pain in our life, we better understand the price, Jesus paid for our salvation. «…you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings…».

    The Bible says, that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. What shall I do when I feel my prayer doesn´t work well. Shall I read a book about upsurge and healing, or listen to a sermon about liberation from curse, maybe I should blame devil and demons for all failures of my praying life. It´s them who set obstacles for me. Quite often people blame devil for all failures in their life. When I listen to the sermons constantly focusing on satan and demons I ask myself, whom are we preaching and whom are we glorifying? Read gospels to see what Jesus said to the demon. He said: “leave him” then continued his way. It´s not a satan fault that you don´t practise praying.
