Seek first to do that which is the will of God in all your decisions
Peace from God and grace be multiplied unto you this day. I am glad we can continue to dig into the word of God to gain access to His wisdom that can transform our lives.
As we continue to discuss the topic on the fear of God I see the necessity to share few more thoughts with you on this subject.
Yesterday we saw that the fear of God expresses itself in hatred for sin. That is the first way to determine if you have this fear or not. Today I want to show you another side of how the fear of God manifests in our lives. If you fear God, the first thing you consider in any decision you make is: “What is God’s will in this matter? What does God say about this issue?”
The first question you ask in hard times should never be “How hard is it going to get doing what I am doing” BUT RATHER what is God’s will in this matter? The fear of God will keep you from falling away from God and His perfect will for your life.
For example, many people fall away from God because of a strong desire to marry. Others fall away because of Money, Pleasure, Inconvenience or hardship.A person falling away from God because they haven’t gotten married reveals that the reason they became a Christian was to have their desire for marriage met.Every tough decision and every temptation you face will reveal the level of your fear and respect for God.The level of our fear of God will be reveal through temptations and all the tests we will encounter.
The test of Job was to reveal if he really fear God. Was he just pretending to fear God because God has blessed him or he truly love and respect the person of God?
Satan came to God and asked Him to put Job to test on how Job is doing in fear of God.
“Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, doth Job fear God for nought?” Job 1:9
We know the end result of this test. Job demonstrated his fear of God by clinging unto God when things were trough and tough.“Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, 21And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. 22In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly” (Job1:20-22).
When his wife told him to deny God and die instead of holding unto Him and enduring such an unbearable pain, Job shuns her down.“Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. 10But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips” (Job 2: 9-10)
What Kept Job from sinning against God and making the right choice during his difficult time? It was the fear of God. When things are tough, when you are pressured to make a decision, the way you approach is what determines your level of the fear of God. Seek first to do that which is the will of God in all your decisions. That is the word of God for you today! Remain blessed! Pastor Rufus AjiboyeSupport us so we can do more
