The evangelism and discipleship

I am very glad to welcome you to our column, Daily Word for Spiritual Strength.

Today I would like to continue yesterday’s theme about evangelism and discipleship. Let’s have a look in the Bible to see what Jesus did to gather people into His team.

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. (Mt.9:9)

Let’s have a look at one more verse:

“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers; Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”(Mt.4:18-19)

I would like you to pay attention to the word “SAW”, which has been mentioned here twice. Passing by, Jesus saw Matthew and two brothers – Peter and Andrew. Jesus had noticed them, somehow they attracted His attention, Jesus invited them to become a part of His team. If our aim is to reach out to people, make them disciples of Jesus and share the Gospel with them-and that is exactly what God commands us to do-we should understand that we will not be very successful unless we have a good team around us. That is why it is important to create a united team so that with the help of each other we can bring people to Jesus. It is a continuous process. We need wisdom and vision from God to make a good and successful team. It is vital to include the right people in a team.

My dear friend, it does not matter what your calling is or in which direction your work for God is going at the moment, but it is essential that you have a good team around you. So, as you move forward into the work God has called you to do, please pay attention to the people around you. Jesus saw people. Do the same, try to notice people who need your guidance and help to become disciples of Jesus and even join your team.

Please remember that every one of us has been called to make disciples of all nations for Jesus.

    We see that Jesus experienced serious difficulties in the days of His earthly life, but He did not focus on them. Jesus was busy serving the Father and those He was sent to serve.     It says in the Bible that God rules and reigns over everything — in heaven and in earth. When we read Genesis, we see that God created men and also we read about God’s intentions for men. God created us to rule and reign on earth as God’s ambassadors. So God’s original plan was for people to be a ruler and care-taker for God. We can read about that in Genesis (1:26-28).
