When you do not see a way out and when everything looks hopeless and bleak, – worship God!

Dear brothers and sisters! I greet you on this wonderful day and I pray that God’s most precious desires would be fulfilled in your life today. We are still talking of the faith of the Canaanite woman that overcame all the obstacles on her way and received what she expected from the Lord. One of the things that strengthen her faith was a humble heart of a worshipper. We are going to talk about it today.
«And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severly demon-possessed.” But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Then she came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!» (Mathew, 15:22-25).
After Jesus told her that He was sent only „to the lost sheep of the house of Isarel”, this woman did not get offended; instead, she worshipped Jesus and asked for help.
“Then she came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!» (Mathew, 15:25).
Many people have a hard time even saying the words „help me”. Many people have a hard time acknowledging that they actually need help. They do not want to admit they are helpless in certain situations and call out for help. Help does not come to those that do not ask for it. Only a humble, broken person is able to ask for help. This woman had a broken heart; for this reason she was able to worship Jesus and ask Him for help. May our hearts be humble before God, so that we can worship God and ask for His help. When you need help, you must humble your heart before God. In the beginning, when this woman first came to Jesus, she said: „Have mercy on me!” In other words, she did not come being haughty and insolent, ordering God around like some people do today; their prayers remain unanswered. Today many people act as if God owes them something. This woman asked Jesus to have mercy on her, and doing so she acknowledged that she is not worthy and does not deserve anything from God. She did not rely on her merit; she relied on God’s mercy because she knew God was merciful. I read a story of a woman who prayed for the salvation of her child and said: «Lord, save my child because he is so good and wonderful». But there was no answer; she believed that her child deserves salvation. As she grew in her knowledge of God, she understood that nobody is good because everyone has sinned. After that her prayers changed and she asked God: „Lord, have mercy on my child and save him, because he is so sinful”. And, you know, the answer came. When we come to God, the attitude of our heart plays especially important role. God always hears the call of a broken heart. A broken heart is the biggest sacrifice to God. We cannot come to God as if He owes us something. He is not obliged to do anything for us! That is why worship is the right basis for a true prayer. A person with a broken, grateful heart that realizes his helplessness, a person that is poor in the spiritinherits the Kingdom of God. Come to God with an attitude of worship. The woman we have been talking about worshipped God. God is calling you today to worship Him in hard times. When you do not see a way out and when everything looks hopeless and bleak, – worship God. It opens necessary doors and changes the situation. God bless you!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • Habit is a compilation of knowledge, skills and willingness III

If we want to have fruitful prayer life, then prayer must become a habit. In order for that to happen we must gain some skills in the area of prayer. Skill means how we do something. When you know what you need to do and why you need to do it, the next step is HOW to do it. If you don’t know how, this activity can’t become a habit. But you won’t be able to learn how, unless you actually start doing it. I won’t know how to pray, unless I start praying. I am sure we already know very much about prayer. You can put to practice this knowledge that you have. Thus you obtain skills. Skills are developed by putting knowledge to practice.
  • Any change in our life is done by the Holy Spirit, who transforms us and moves us from glory to glory

Are you able to accomplish something only the Holy Spirit can do? Surely not! However, by constantly watching the glory of the Lord with open face the Holy Spirit can transform us into the same image, from glory to glory.I noticed there is a problem with persistence in our fellowship with God not with coming before Him. You probably experience the time when inspiration visits you and you are willing to get closer to God and have fellowship with Him. While those moments come rather rarely or very rarely they do not change anything in essence. We all need persistence! During fellowship with God Holy Spirit will work at your heart, at your character, at your relationships, at your way of thinking that, in turn, will transform you.
  • How to develop a habit of prayer in our life? III

As you know, human life consists of habits. There are also good and bad habits. Any habit that brings a positive outcome requires some efforts and discipline from us. Unless we have a habit of praying our prayer life will never become effective neither fruitful. Let me quote the statement of an Ancient Greek philosopher, Aristotle who once said about habits – “We are the product of what we repeatedly do”. In other words, our habits are our essence. Therefore, in order to excel at something, we have to make it our habit.
  • Why do we need to cultivate gratitude in our lives II

«For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren» (Romans, 8:29).It is God’s desire for us to be conformed into the image of God’s only Son – Jesus Christ. Gratitude is one of the qualities that help us to do that. Later we will see how gratitude was demonstrated in the life of Jesus and how many events in His life were directly connected to thanksgiving.
  • Value God’s Word!

Today God wants to tell us the same thing. The Word of God is life to us. When God sends us His Word, He offers us life. Rejecting the Word of God we reject life itself. Moses says about God’s Word: «For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life…»It is extremely important for us to appreciate the Word of God and not to treat it as something futile, – it is not like a song that we have listened to and then gone to do our own will. It should be to us like the greatest treasure. We have to value God’s Word, to hide it in our hearts, to appreciate it because it is life to us. God says that through the Word and through our right attitude towards it we can extend or prolong our days. Our attitude toward the Word determines whether we will extend our life or shorten it.
  • If a person does not serve God, then sooner or later his love towards Him will grow cold and he will forsake God!

Serving God is one of the ways you and I can maintain a good spiritual shape. It is one of the ways to grow spiritually. If a person is always on the receiving side and never gives anything, he will eventually die. For this reason, it is very important to serve God.There are so many people in the Church today who only call themselves believers; they simply go to church, read their Bible and pray; they fellowship with other believers, but serving God is not in the list of their priorities.
