God gives to everyone according to his or her ability

How good and wonderful is our Lord Jesus Christ! His majesty and beauty surrounds us every day. And this day is not an exception! God’s mercies are new this morning for every one of us!How do we take this daily mercy and grace that God shows to us? God expects us to be busy with His work; He wants us to use and to develop our talents for the Kingdom of God. God has not deprived us of talents; He has given gifts to everyone.
„And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability…» (Mathew, 25:15).
Ability is power for action and achievement. Every one of us has some amount of power and ability. Abilities determine what God can entrust you with or give to you. Why did God give five talents to one, but only one to another? The person who was given five talents had developed his ability to the level of five talents. The person who was given one talent had developed his ability to the level of one talent, so it was impossible to entrust to him anything more than that. You might be asking God why He does not give you more than you have today. He cannot give you more because you won’t be able to manage it. God knows our abilities; by considering them, He shows us His love. It is God’s love that gives to us according to our abilities – no more and no less. Everything you have at the moment fits the level you can manage and it matches your abilities. If you want to have more – more money, influence, fruit or anything else – then you need to develop your ability, because God won’t give more than you can handle. We do not have problems with desires and fantasies; we want so much; but coupled with every blessing, there is responsibility. Do not ask God to give you blessings, if you are not ready to take full responsibility for it, because it can destroy you and you will lose a lot more than just the blessing.God gives to everyone according to his or her ability. We all want more. We want our churches to have more people, but God – according to your ability – will give you what you can handle. God will be able to entrust you His blessings according to the level of your responsibility. For example, you are in a predicament and you think, „Why do I have to live through this?” But God knows that you can handle it. We often are not aware of how responsible or irresponsible we are, but God is. God knows the burden you are able to carry. You may think and say to yourself, «No, I am not able to bear this! I am not capable!» Until you actually go through it, you won’t be able to imagine what you are capable of.God will not let you carry more you are able to. God is our loving Father!     Reading the Bible we see how Jesus was growing and being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him. Jesus was constantly seeking the God´s will for His life, in order to set a good example for us. If Jesus had got to know God´s will using His divine nature instead, He wouldn´t have set a role model to us nor we wouldn´t be able to follow his steps today. Jesus stayed longer in the Temple after the feast of Passover in Jerusalem while other people had already left for home (see Luke 2:41-51). What was Jesus doing there and why did He stay longer in the Temple? He stayed there to listen to the scribes and to question them. That´s one of His secrets where His wisdom came from. Jesus studied the Scriptures. He attended the Temple and asked questions, prayed and leaned closer to God, His Father.

    The question arises why so many people start their walk with God but turn aside in one of the crossroads of life; they turn back to where they came from. It reminds me the story of Jewish people. For a long time this nation was in slavery in Egypt. They were burdened by hard work with no payment. The nation of Israel cried out to God, and God delivered them and brought them out of Egypt. They had to walk to the Promised Land. Every day they were getting closer to it. There were difficulties on their way; they had to flee some wrong things, avoid making wrong decisions, wrong relationships; they had to overcome grumbling and complaining. Israelites had to obtain more and more knowledge of God while heading towards their Promised Land.

    When I pray I pour out my soul before God. I will not dwell on it for long, because we mostly know how to do it. We know how to open our hearts. As soon as we find a listening ear and as soon as we find a person we can trust, we open our hearts. We know that God is always ready to hear us out. Besides, God is totally trustworthy. It means that you can boldly come before God with everything that concerns us. That is what we call prayer. And that is why Paul says that we shouldn’t think and worry too much, but always reveal our desires before God in prayer and then His peace will fill our hearts.

    Let Him talk to your heart today. We keep on talking about how we can experience God´s presence, power and His mercy in our life. Yesterday we stated that constant fellowship with God is mandatory in order to experience these things. We quoted many verses from Scripture telling us that people who love God have obvious advantages. For such people God has prepared many pleasant surprises and all things together work for good in their lives and God Himself appears to them.«We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.» (Romans 8:28).

    Once we understand our life is a test, many questioned get solved by themselves and we can rejoice and enjoy our life. Those who understand that life is a test, they treat every difficult situation as an opportunity, not as an obstacle. The Bible often tells us how God tests His children. He is not doing it because He hates us nor because He wants to see our fall. Not at all! God puts us in test for few reasons. God blessed Abraham with a son first, then tested him asking to sacrifice his son on the altar. God allowed ordeals in Job’s life, then Job went through all that horror and bitterness.

  • Analyze your work and your days!

    If we don’t learn to stop like God did to analyze what we are doing and where we are going, then we might end up in a totally different place, not at the intended destination, and we might get something we did not plan to get. It is so easy to get distracted, to get involved into all kinds of entertainment and futile things; that is why we need to stop once in a while to check and analyze what is happening in our lives, whether it is good or bad, should it be changed or not, is the direction of our lives right and good.
