Sacrifice as a measure of love! III

I thank the Lord for you and I believe that this day will bring you great blessings in such capacity as you will ponder on the word that God is giving us today.

We are continuing to speak about how our love for God is measured according to our ability to self-sacrifice.

It is not hard to love God – simply think about Him, think about what He does for you every day, and your natural response will be gratefulness. Worshipping God will become a natural thing for those who think about Him and His works. God loves you very much. But, if you live and at the same time do not think about Him, do not see what He does for you, it is hard for you to sacrifice; particularly – it is hard for you to sacrifice your busy daily schedule, your finances, your time, your comfort, because you do not think about Him.

It is easy to worship God for those who think only about Him. Therefore, after Noah experienced rescue in the time when the whole human race was wiped out, and only his family was rescued – Noah’s heart was filled with gratefulness for God, and he sacrificed clean animals.

„Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.”(Genesis 8:20).

It was a sacrifice because Noah was allowed to subsist on clean animals only. God had given a law regarding the animals Noah was allowed to use for food, and these were the animals that he sacrificed to God. Worshipping God was the lifestyle of Noah.

God’s blessings rush after the people who can sacrifice themselves. Ability to self-sacrifice is not only your money, but also your time, your talents, etc.

Ability to self-sacrifice – this is something costly to you, but you let it go for the one that you love.

If you say that you love God, then, what do you sacrifice as a proof of your love for Him? Perhaps you are so busy with everything else that you do not even have time to stop these activities and just sit in His presence to hear Him. And you say that you love God? It is pleasing for God when you build altars to Him every day of your time – it is time for the Lord. It is pleasing for God to hear, when you say pleasant words to Him – not those who were placed in your lips during prayer at church, not those dictated by the circumstances to you, but those that come from your heart. And at this time you do not think about your life, about your problems; you leave all haste, turmoil and think only of Him. And it is the sweet life.

“The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.” (Genesis 8:21).

God has feelings. If your only business during the day is to grumble about your life, then it is a stink for God, and it does not attract God, therefore you feel the drought in your life and your church. God is attracted by a pleasing aroma, the sacrifice of worship! Just because one person brought the sacrifice to Him, God has decided to no longer curse and destroy people, but to bless the next generations. Your sacrifice has a noble and profound effect on you and other people.

May your life, filled with selfless love for God and people, be like a pleasing aroma to Him!

With peace of God!

Until tomorrow!

  • How to develop a habit of prayer in our life? III

As you know, human life consists of habits. There are also good and bad habits. Any habit that brings a positive outcome requires some efforts and discipline from us. Unless we have a habit of praying our prayer life will never become effective neither fruitful. Let me quote the statement of an Ancient Greek philosopher, Aristotle who once said about habits – “We are the product of what we repeatedly do”. In other words, our habits are our essence. Therefore, in order to excel at something, we have to make it our habit.

  • Jesus was constantly seeking the God´s will for His life

Reading the Bible we see how Jesus was growing and being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him. Jesus was constantly seeking the God´s will for His life, in order to set a good example for us. If Jesus had got to know God´s will using His divine nature instead, He wouldn´t have set a role model to us nor we wouldn´t be able to follow his steps today. Jesus stayed longer in the Temple after the feast of Passover in Jerusalem while other people had already left for home (see Luke 2:41-51). What was Jesus doing there and why did He stay longer in the Temple? He stayed there to listen to the scribes and to question them. That´s one of His secrets where His wisdom came from. Jesus studied the Scriptures. He attended the Temple and asked questions, prayed and leaned closer to God, His Father.

  • The factors upon which a man’s breakthrough in life depends

Getting accustomed to the situation. Very often people get used to their situations and will not try to do anything to change their state of being. This lame guy got used to sitting on the same spot for 40 years and probably did not believe in any change any more.I read this story about one dog that has been tied to a pillar. Each time the dog tried to run, she felt the restriction. After several attempts the dog got used to its position. And even after this dog was untied, it still continued to move around only within the habitual radius.

  • It is the content of your heart that determines where your life is heading!

God wants His people to know His Word – the truth which sets us free from lies and sin. The Bibles says that Jesus came to give us life – life in abundance. God’s life is contained in His Word. God’s wisdom and might is contained in His Word! God wants you to realise what great treasure there is for you in His Word. This treasure is not comparable with any silver or gold. God’s Word – it is a jewel beyond price, everlasting, and it brings health, answers and solutions.

  • Temptations or trials are a kind of test or exam

If you arm yourself with the knowledge that problems and trials are a test to all of us, and once it´s passed we receive a certain reward from God, then a holy desire to win given by God will be awaken within you. None of you is born willing to be a loser in this life. We all desire to win, but no win where is no battle. For the problems and trials are those battles we either get defeated or celebrate the victory at. Going through hardships and pain in our life, we better understand the price, Jesus paid for our salvation. «…you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings…».

  • The sample of effective prayer

In order to pray effectively one needs a sample. Christian life is a spiritual life, therefore, connection with Heaven is vitally important. Our God is a spirit, but we all live on Earth, so we need to stay connected with God. There are only two ways of having fellowship with God – The word of God and a prayer. The God speaks to us through His word. The word of God is His revelation about God himself. Neither you can create the character of God by yourself nor you can imagine what kind of person He is, because you can easily fail getting it right. The God tells us in His word about who He is, what He can do and how He acts.
