Don’t give up!

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

I welcome you to the column of our “Daily word for spiritual strength”.

Today I would like to consider lessons from the lives of four Bible heroes who brought a paralytic man to Jesus. In this history there are some vital lessons we can learn and some valuable principles for successful living.

Here is the first lesson: It is very important not to give up when you have set a goal to achieve something noble.

“ And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. 2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. 3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee” (Mark 2:1-5).

We can see from the above text that these people had a noble desire or goal, – to bring this weakened and paralytic person into the divine presence of God. The miracle that this man needed was possible only in the presence of God. Miracles are available for all of us too, only in God’s presence.

When we come into the presence of God, then all our problems and leprosies disappear.

However, this weakened person in our story couldn’t have come to Jesus and gotten into the presence of God by himself because he had been confined to bed. His four friends have decided to help him in this.

As we can see in the story, despite their noble desire, there was a serious obstacle standing in their way that would not allow them to get directly to Jesus. What was this obstacle? It was the great crowd of people that surrounded Jesus.

One very interesting lesson hidden in this story for us is that: no obstacles could stop these people. These four heroes overcame all the barriers and came to Jesus, entering into the presence of God. These people found a way to achieve their goal and reach their objective. The way they found wasn’t a traditional one, and this way did cost them something. But they have made it and paid the price for it. They disassembled the roof of the house where Jesus was teaching and lowered unto Jesus the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

What does God want us to see through this story?

God wants us to understand that it will not always be easy when we make up our mind to pursue our goals and purpose in life. The person who quickly gives up will never win.

God’s word for you today is this: Don’t give up!

May God bless you on your way to achieving your purpose in life! Please, don’t give in to obstacles, because there are ways to achieve your purpose. If you have gone one way, and nothing seems to work out for you, then try to find another way. If the second attempt also fails, try a third method. You will eventually reach your goal if you will not give up on the way.

May the Lord bless you!

See you tomorrow!

  • But he who endures to the end shall be saved!

The question arises why so many people start their walk with God but turn aside in one of the crossroads of life; they turn back to where they came from. It reminds me the story of Jewish people. For a long time this nation was in slavery in Egypt. They were burdened by hard work with no payment. The nation of Israel cried out to God, and God delivered them and brought them out of Egypt. They had to walk to the Promised Land. Every day they were getting closer to it. There were difficulties on their way; they had to flee some wrong things, avoid making wrong decisions, wrong relationships; they had to overcome grumbling and complaining. Israelites had to obtain more and more knowledge of God while heading towards their Promised Land.

  • On what does your destiny depend?

We mostly think that our destiny is determined by other people or how they act toward us. Or we think that destiny depends on the circumstances that surround us or things that happen around us. But it is not true, and God does not think that way! God knows that the circumstances in your life won’t define your life. What people do or do not do to you cannot determine your life. Your destiny is defined by where your heart is. Thus, God tells us that we have to guard our hearts with all diligence.

  • The law of harvest and multiplication II

«Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.» (Mark 4:3-8)

  • The life of Jesus was described to us so that we learn from Him to take His yoke and His burden

According to the Bible, God´s highest goal for us is make us in likeness of Christ. He wants us to be like Jesus. Though, it doesn´t happen in at blink of an eye, it´s rather a process that develops as we allow the God´s word and other God´s means on to influence us. Spending your time with Jesus by reading the word of God and praying, fellowship with other christians, decently overcoming difficulties and pain – all these things help you to transform more and more, just as it happened to Jesus disciples.

What is our response like today? How do we express our gratitude to God for the fact that we live, that He protects us, that He has saved us, that we breathe, walk, and we have families and children? What God is doing for us today – does it help us be more open, sacrifice more and become better worshippers?

  • The law of harvest and multiplication

As a base we will use a passage from Mark chapter 4, where Jesus Himself was speaking in parables. In this chapter there are three parables, through which Jesus explains the power and the potential hidden in a small seed. First I would like to simply recount these parables, but later we will look at each of them in more detail. The first parable that Jesus talked about is the parable of the sower. This parable shows that there is a whole list of obstacles that make it difficult for seeds to grow and bear fruit. In this parable, Jesus went ahead to show us three types of obstacles which can impede the growth of the seeds that we sow. (Mark 4:3-20)
