On what does your destiny depend?

My greetings to the readers of „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”!Today I would like to share a word with you about what the course of your life depends on or what your destiny depends on. We will talk about whether it is the circumstances of your life or the condition of your heart that determine the course of your life.We mostly think that our destiny is determined by other people or how they act toward us. Or we think that destiny depends on the circumstances that surround us or things that happen around us. But it is not true, and God does not think that way! God knows that the circumstances in your life won’t define your life. What people do or do not do to you cannot determine your life. Your destiny is defined by where your heart is. Thus, God tells us that we have to guard our hearts with all diligence.
«My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life» (Proverbs, 4:20-23).
Guard your heart with all diligence! Why is it so important? Because life flows out of the heart. That is the reason why it is so important to keep the right things in our hearts. If we keep the Word of God in our hearts – and the Word contains the very life of God – then the life of God will flow out of our hearts like streams of water. Even if we get into unfavourable situations, the life of God will flow out of our hearts and change all the circumstances. It happens because the life that fills our hearts will press out all deadly and unfavourable situations that surround us. When people treat you badly, creating hindrances or humiliating you, it does not affect you if the Word of God fills your heart; this very Word will help you to walk in victory no matter what people intend to do against you or what circumstances you find yourself in. When unpleasant things happen in our lives we do not need to look for someone or something to blame – husband, wife, government, church, boss, weather, God, devil etc. We need to analyze the condition of our hearts. Instead of looking for someone to blame for the wrong things happening with us, let us check what flows out of our hearts and how we respond to things. It is very important! In addition you will notice how these qualities reflect in your inner world and your relationships with God and other people as well.

    There is another voice that we hear – it is the voice of other people and the voice of human standpoint. For example, the voice of experts goes in this category – a doctor who proclaims what the medical equipment indicates. A doctor may tell the patient that he will die in three days, because the medical equipment, the analyses and his own medical experience show that. Praise the Lord for our doctors, but we must know that the last word always belongs to God. God often says the totally opposite to what experts say. In such cases, it is necessary that we, while being respectful towards different specialists, put aside the expert conclusions and trust God, not people. The more you trust the expert conclusions and not the Word of God, the less God can give you life.

    Getting accustomed to the situation. Very often people get used to their situations and will not try to do anything to change their state of being. This lame guy got used to sitting on the same spot for 40 years and probably did not believe in any change any more.I read this story about one dog that has been tied to a pillar. Each time the dog tried to run, she felt the restriction. After several attempts the dog got used to its position. And even after this dog was untied, it still continued to move around only within the habitual radius.

    In the parable of the sower, it is said that they who brought forth the fruit were the ones who heard the word and understood it. Some brought fruit thirty-, sixty- and hundredfold, according to their understanding.«But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty..» (Мatth. 13: 23).
