The lordship of Jesus Christ IV

Greetings to you, precious children of God! I bless you this day and pray that the victory of Christ that He gained on Golgotha be reflected in your life, so that all the enemies and all situations would submit to you in the name of Jesus Christ.Today we will continue talking about the lordship of Jesus Christ. We have already established that the lordship of Jesus Christ implies His rule over everything and everybody. We saw that God allowed the man to rule over the earth just as He rules and reigns in heaven. This authority was lost through the fall and Adam’s disobedience. But we know that Jesus Christ came to the earth and regained this authority for us. We know that the devil is the main enemy of the mankind. He is the one that resists the will of God on the earth.
«And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, „Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been cast down» (Revelation, 12:7-11a).
There was war in heaven, after which the devil was cast out. When he was cast down from heaven it made him furious. Afterwards he deviously stole what God had given the man. Because of it mankind became devil’s hostage. But praise God for His wisdom! God became a man, descended to the earth to take away from the devil what Adam had lost. Jesus Christ after He came to the earth fought with the devil and won total victory over him.
«Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it» (Colossians, 2:15).
Jesus won total victory over the devil and shamed him publically. Besides winning the victory on the earth, He also descended into hell – the headquarters of the devil where He also overcame him. Death and hell could not keep Him and He rose from the dead. The lordship of Jesus Christ means that He is the Lord in heaven, on the earth and in hell, and everything is submitted to Him.
«..who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father» (Philippians, 2:6-11).
We see that Jesus descended from heaven to the earth, humbled Himself and took of the form of a bondservant. The Ruler became a man. Jesus died for us and won a victory, and for this reason God exalted the name of Jesus above every other name. Thus, Jesus is the Lord in heaven, on the earth and in hell. It means that there is no other name – the name of a sickness, a problem, a person etc. – that could come up against the name of Jesus. If we are aware of the authority of Jesus, if we identify ourselves with His rule and submit our lives to it, then we can walk in the name of Jesus and crush under our feet all those things that do not fit the will of God and come up against it. And we will see victory!I pray that the Lord would help us all to grasp the true meaning of the lordship of Jesus. When we proclaim “Jesus is LORD!” having the proper understanding, then it brings changes into our lives. If we allow the revelation of this word control our actions, and then our prayers, sermons, our reaction to different complicated situation will be totally different, because we will firmly know and understand that Jesus is LORD!Be blessed!Till tomorrow!Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • In our lives we must reflect the life, the power and the nature of Christ

You should not forget that you are God’s ambassadors on earth. When you face a problem or a difficult situation, think of what Jesus would have done if He were in a similar situation. This will help you. Christ is the One we represent on this earth. Think of what He would say, how He would solve the problem, how He would go through the situation you are facing today. If you think about like Christ thinks and you develop or grow in the nature of God, then you will become a strong and influential ambassador of God in your sphere of influence; you will ‘salty’ and you will be bright light in this world.
  • On what does your destiny depend?

We mostly think that our destiny is determined by other people or how they act toward us. Or we think that destiny depends on the circumstances that surround us or things that happen around us. But it is not true, and God does not think that way! God knows that the circumstances in your life won’t define your life. What people do or do not do to you cannot determine your life. Your destiny is defined by where your heart is. Thus, God tells us that we have to guard our hearts with all diligence.
  • Why do we need to cultivate gratitude in our lives II

«For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren» (Romans, 8:29).It is God’s desire for us to be conformed into the image of God’s only Son – Jesus Christ. Gratitude is one of the qualities that help us to do that. Later we will see how gratitude was demonstrated in the life of Jesus and how many events in His life were directly connected to thanksgiving.
  • Purpose for living V

After Solomon forsook God for a season, he tried to find happiness and satisfaction in different things and activities. We see that Solomon made several attempts which all lead to disappointment. For a wise person Solomon’s experience can become good lesson in what the wrong ways to happiness are. We mentioned that Solomon sought happiness in education and knowledge, in fun and pleasures, in beauty, in works of men’s hands. Afterwards he came to a conclusion that despite the fact that all these things are important and necessary for living, none of them can make us happy, if God is excluded from our life. Solomon said that everything under the sun is vanity and grasping for the wind. Solomon’s conclusion was that everything that happens under the sun is vanity and grasping for the wind – if apart from God.
  • If we are not ready to change and start resisting them, then we are not really ready to be a disciple of Jesus Christ

What does it mean to be a disciple? A disciple is a person who is learning from someone else and knows that he needs to grow and gain some knowledge. A disciple is one who follows both the teaching and the life of his or her teacher. He imitates his teacher and later grows into the likeness of his teacher.
