How important for us is to use our homes and special celebrations for the spiritual work we are called to do

My Dear Friend,I am very glad to welcome you to our column Daily Word for Spiritual Strengths.Today I would like to share with you how important for us is to use our homes and special celebrations for the spiritual work we are called to do. Jesus very often used the home for evangelism. I would like you to read about a situation in Jesus life from Matthew 9:10-13
“While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and “sinners” came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and “sinners”? On hearing this Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: “I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners”.
In the verses above we can see how Matthew, who had recently given his life to Jesus, had invited Him to his house. When people give their lives to Jesus, they still have loads of friends and relatives who do not know Jesus as their saviour. As Matthew also had unsaved friends, relatives and work colleagues, every time he invited Jesus to his house, he invited them too.Matthew did this purposely, so that those people could meet up with Jesus, ask Him questions and receive answers. It worked. My dear friend, I would like you to think how you could use your times of special celebration, parties and other opportunities for bringing the gospel to your unsaved relatives, friends and acquaintances. In 1 Corinthians 10:31 the bible reminds us that whatever we do, we must do it for the glory of the Lord:
“So whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God”
Inviting people to our homes and celebrations, we have a great opportunity to bring the Good News to them and fulfil this verse in our lives.May God bless you and may His peace rest on you!

  • Thanksgiving as the basis of worship

Worship is life that is dedicated to God and it implies close interaction with God. It says in the Bible that God is looking for worshippers: «But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth» (John, 4:23-24).
  • How some people sins caused pain and suffering in other people

«“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbour, and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.». (Matthew 5:43-45).If only all people lived according to the commandments of love there would be much less pain and tragedies on Earth. There would be much less tears on Earth if people took care for each other instead of seeking their own benefits.
  • Your gift will make room for you! IV

In the Gospel of Mathew Jesus told a parable about Master giving his servants different talents. «For the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey» (Mathew, 25: 14-15).Jesus shows us here that the criterion of His assessment is not quantity, but faithfulness. God know that every one of us has different abilities, so the quantitative result will be different for different people. Numbers are not important to Jesus; He cares about how faithful you have been with what God has given you. He cares about your attitude towards His work.
  • What are the benefits of pain and suffering at the time? IV

In order for us to learn react to problems and pain in a correct manner we need a revelation about the fact that while we live in this world there will be no end to pain and hardships. For as long as sin exists on the earth pain won’t cease in people’s lives. We suffer not only due to our own sins and wrong decisions, but also due to the sins and wrong decisions of other people.Joshua and Caleb, as well as the whole generation of Israel that finally entered the Promised Land were forced to wander through the wilderness for almost 40 years. Why? We know that Joshua and Caleb had a different spirit and they believed God and walked in obedience. Nevertheless, due to the wrong decisions made by other people they had to suffer and wander in the wilderness for all that time.
  • Everything that is hidden will unavoidably be brought into the light

«For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil» (Ecclesiastes, 12:14). Solomon said the same thing Jesus said: God will bring into judgment our every work and especially all the hidden works: sins, wrongdoings that we have tried to keep in secret. God will openly bring our every deed into the light of His judgment. It means that all our sins will follow us wherever we go. The only way we can avoid the consequences of our sins and wrongdoings – is to repent before God brings them into the judgment. Repentance opens to us the door of mercy and grace from the Lord. It brings into our life new opportunities from the Lord. For this reason the only right lifestyle and the only correct decision is to repent of our wrongdoings so that God won’t have to judge us.
  • How can we experience God in our life? III

Let Him talk to your heart today. We keep on talking about how we can experience God´s presence, power and His mercy in our life. Yesterday we stated that constant fellowship with God is mandatory in order to experience these things. We quoted many verses from Scripture telling us that people who love God have obvious advantages. For such people God has prepared many pleasant surprises and all things together work for good in their lives and God Himself appears to them.«We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.» (Romans 8:28).
