It is extremely important for us to grow in God’s character and nature so that we can effectively function on earth

Welcome, precious God’s children, to „Daily Word for Spiritual Edification”! I pray that God’s grace for instruction will your life today. We continue talking about the importance of the development of God’s character and nature in us. It is extremely important for us to grow in God’s character and nature so that we can effectively function on earth. As kings we rule by righteousness. This is what the bible talks about in Proverbs 16:12:
«It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, for a throne is established by righteousness» .
In order for a throne or a reign or government to be established, it must be done by righteousness or truth. As we’ve said before, in Paul’s Epistle to Romans we are told that we rule on earth by the gift of righteousness (see Rom.5: 17). The Power, authority and wisdom to rule on earth come into our lives through our uncompromising stance against sin and unrighteousness. If we choose righteousness and total submission to God and His commandments as our lifestyle, then God can channel His authority into our lives; our life will be filled with God’s authority, and God will grant us the right to rule and reign on earth. If we do not walk in God’s righteousness and in submission to Him, then we are left without spiritual authority and ability to spread God’s life on earth. And we will lack the ability and the enablement to forward God’s purposes and intentions on earth. So it is important for us to remember that our authority must be underpinned by God’s power, for that is the only way this authority can bring life and blessings, and bring forth God’s purposes on earth. That is the reason why God blessed man and gave him the ability to be fruitful, multiply and subdue the earth for God after creating man in His image and according to His likeness.
«So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, „Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth» (Genesis, 1:27-28).
We see that human authority for dominion on earth must be supported by God and underpinned by heaven; it must be certified by God and have God’s blessing on it. And only then are we are able to fulfil God’s purpose for the earth. We cannot be fruitful without God’s blessing. What does it mean to have God’s blessing? His blessing is His support in everything we do; it is when heaven supports our deeds and God is on our side. The Bible states that God’s throne is in heaven, and that is where spiritual authority and power comes from; that is the seat of the law and dominion. If heaven does not support our activities and is not on our side, then the things we do on earth do not have the approval and seal of God, which is LIFE. Without the blessings of God and Heaving confirming us none of our good activities will carry or bear the mark of the life of God. The Bible tells us that God looks down from heaven seeking out the one whose heart is loyal and devoted to Him. God seeks out those who imitate Him in their actions, since God desires to support and help these people to accomplish His purpose on the earth. We read about this in the 2nd Book of Chronicles:
«For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him» (2 Chronicles, 16:9a).
This passage of Scripture shows us that in order to be able to spread life on earth we must have the support and approval of heaven; we must have God’s blessings. For that to happen we must manifest God’s character; we must have fellowship with Him and we must show our devotion to His purpose in the earth. And since God created us in His image and according to His likeness, we have the ability to enjoy fellowship with God and to grow in His nature. We only need to devote ourselves to that as our first priority in life. We will continue on this tomorrow! I wish you abundant God’s blessings! Pastor Rufus Ajiboye

  • What are the benefits of pain and suffering at the time?

Problems draw our attention faster than anything else.Problems can become a spiritual “alarm clock” from God. This is what Job (36:15) points out: “He delivers the poor in their affliction, and opens their ears in oppression”.In times of prosperity and abundance we hear God as whispering, but in times of pain and suffering we hear Him loud and clear. God has an ability to revive our attention towards His Word and His voice. That is why Solomon says that in times of abundance we should enjoy life, but in times of suffering we should think about our life.
  • God helps us to develop compassion towards other people through the ministry as well

It is true that ministry transforms us into the likeness of God. Since God is graceful and compassionate in His essence, then we His children should be able to show to others the grace and compassion of our Heavenly Father and we do that by serving other people. Earlier on, we already mentioned that God’s desire is to transform us into the image and the likeness of Christ so that we can begin to reflect the quality of character that Jesus had. It was Christ who came to reveal God to us so that we can follow in His steps. We know that changes automatically do not occur; changes or transformation happen only as we implement the laws and principles of God into our life. Ministry is one tremendous way we can do that; it is one of the many tools, God uses to mold and transform us into likeness of Christ.
  • Apart from Him there is no true satisfaction and happiness! II

Today we will look at some more areas of Solomon’s life where he tried to find happiness and satisfaction. Many people try to do that. Let’s look at the Scripture.«Therefore I hated life because the work that was done under the sun was distressing to me, for all is vanity and grasping for the wind. Then I hated all my labor in which I had toiled under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who will come after me»(Ecclesiastes, 2:16-17).
  • Do not be afraid to work; do not be afraid to sacrifice your time to the Lord!

«But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money» (Mathew, 25:18).This person received some money from his master and he hid it. Please, notice these words ‘money from his master’. He knew that what he had received did not belong to him; it belonged to his master. And he made a conscious decision to hide the treasure his master had given him.
  • How accountability helps us to change and grow spiritually?

Accountability is a sincere confession or opening of one’s secrets of his Christian walk to the others in the atmosphere of mutual trust. We are ready to give account of what we do with our lives, what we understand or do not understand, in what areas are weak or in need of assistance. When we are accountable we are willing to admit whether we are growing or not. We are able to give account of what we are learning in order to receive support, encouragement or correction.
  • Purpose for living V

After Solomon forsook God for a season, he tried to find happiness and satisfaction in different things and activities. We see that Solomon made several attempts which all lead to disappointment. For a wise person Solomon’s experience can become good lesson in what the wrong ways to happiness are. We mentioned that Solomon sought happiness in education and knowledge, in fun and pleasures, in beauty, in works of men’s hands. Afterwards he came to a conclusion that despite the fact that all these things are important and necessary for living, none of them can make us happy, if God is excluded from our life. Solomon said that everything under the sun is vanity and grasping for the wind. Solomon’s conclusion was that everything that happens under the sun is vanity and grasping for the wind – if apart from God.
