People “dull of hearing” are not the ones who do not listen at all; they are the ones who are not able to grasp and comprehend.

When we feed on God’s Word, this Word helps us grow spiritually. When we do not do it, we stay spiritual babies. Looking at some churches we can see that they are full of spiritual babies. This situation does not bring joy to God, because He can’t rely on spiritual babies.

God wants us to be strong and healthy not only physically, but also spiritually. We do not need ‘spiritual fasts’. We can have physical fasts in order to gain spiritual power. But in order to become spiritually strong, we should daily feed on the Word. If you do not do it, you get weaker as a believer; you get weaker in your judgments and in your faith.

When we get weaker we must ‘eat’ spiritually; that is what God’s Word is there for: «…as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby» (1 Peter, 2:2).

God’s Word is treasure we must treat right; through it we have to be established in the eternal life given to us by God. It says in the Bible: «It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter» (Proverbs, 25:2).

God cleanses me through His Word, so I have to be absorbed in it daily. It might seem to you that you are not getting anything out of it, but it is not so. When we read the Word, we receive deep cleansing, just like people get clean when they bathe. It must be done as often as possible so we would stink spiritually. If you start to notice that you are getting quick-tempered, it means you need to wash it off. If you notice your heart closing up, it means you are not reading the Word and missing the cleansing. If you notice things that do not comply with Christian standards, for example, picking a quarrel, it is a sign of not being in the Word enough.

2. God’s Word is the best ‘cleansing agent’ for a human heart.

That is sufficient reason why we need to read God’s Word. The Word cleanses me. Jesus already cleansed me by His Blood when I got saved. I am clean and have access to God without any condemnation. Yet, I still need to experience daily cleansing.

1. God makes the feet of this person strong as the feet of deer.

This person is able to run and not get weary. When he or she faces an obstacle or a wall, he has the strength to get over it. This thought is profound: the person who is filled with God’s light has power to overcome the difficulties of life. There are no invincible barriers for him. When the light of God comes into the person’s life, God’s wisdom comes with it and helps overcome all obstacles.

«Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path» (Psalm, 119:105).

God’s Word is a light for me. By reading it I move towards light; it gives light to my steps. I get enlightened by God. God’s Word illuminates our path and brings clarity and direction to our lives. When we read it, clearness comes into our lives.

There is so much confusion in the lives of many believers about different life issues. We understand that as believers we cannot live the same way the unbelievers live in this world, because God’s Spirit has inhabited our hearts and we are now the children of God.

When we read the Bible we receive doctrine, which means we start to see where we should go. Through the reading of the Bible we are shown the direction for our thought life, our words and all other areas of our lives.

Besides, the Bible is profitable for reproof. Quite often we start walking the way the Bible has shown us, but then we somehow get distracted, lose the right direction and get sidetracked. It is through reproof that we are shown that we have taken the wrong path

There is wisdom that is revealed and open for some people and continues to open daily; but for some people, this wisdom is like hidden treasure they are not able to enjoy. It is the Word of God that is God’s treasure. Today we will talk about God’s Word and about our attitude towards it. The people that have the Bible have a true treasure at their disposal.

Spirit of competition .

Some people are moved by the desire to prove to others what they can do. Those that are moved by this spirit can’t be still if they see someone else doing better than them. These people continually try to prove something to others, because they compare themselves to others all the time. They live according to someone else’s schedule since they do not have their own.
